So true on the Christmas Wrasse.....:p hopefully my Rainbow wrasse will keep him inline

Carolline algae is kicking in nicely and also starting to appear in some corners of my tank glass as well

TRULY UNIQUE CREATURE

TRULY UNIQUE CREATURE

Amazing what you can find in your tank…anyway, the last few nights been getting very little sleep as I’m nightly hunting for the source of the ‘clicking’ sound.

From my experience of the ‘clicking’ sound, I don’t think it’s your next-door neighborhood ‘friendly’ mantis and tonight I get to proof it…

Between my corals, I suddenly saw a luminous light green ‘algae’ move away as I shine my torch down and I thought to myself “hmmmm that’s odd looking piece of algae”

I then decided to pull out that piece of coral for a closer inspection and using a toothpick, this is what I found….

GreenPistolShrimp.jpg

Now, I’ve seen Pistol shrimps many many times before but NEVER in this color. His whole body is translucent and luminous green too….

Absolutely beautiful creature but not for me unfortunately so I kept it and will give it to my friend

Hopefully after this I can have some peaceful nights and NO MORE CLICKING!!

May I use that picture on my ID page?

I've got that sound in both of my tanks, but have never seen the source.

A shipment of wild and aqua cultured colonies from Indonesia came in….

Where are you going to mount the Pepsi bottle, Ed? You could leave it floating on top ...

Tone :bum:

You can try the RO method suggested by Nick.... I tried on mine but didn't work. Could work better on a nano, I presume as larger tank with bigger volume of water is harder to change salinity with a syringe :fun5:

Awesome scores! Congrats!

Can we get a FTS now with the new corals and without the shrimp ;) . Think the threads a little overdue for one... eh?

FTS  Man....either u've not been following my thread or you're a true addict

How about a weekly water parameter testing result instead :p

WATER PARAMETER UDPATES…..

Did my weekly 10% WC and check my water params as below:

• Temperature â€"œ 25.2 degree C (light on)
• Salinity Gravity â€"œ 35ppt (Calibrated refractometer - 53ms Pinpoint Solution)
• NO3 â€"œ 0 (Salifert Test kit â€"œ drop from last same 0.2)
• PO4 â€"œ 0.14 (D&D Test kit â€"œ up from last week 0.092)
• dKH â€"œ 7.0 (API test kit â€"œ up from last week 6.5)
• dKH â€"œ 7.5 (Elos test kit â€"œ up from last week 7)
• Ca â€"œ 450 (Salifert test kit â€"œ up from last week 440)
• Ca â€"œ 450 (Elos test kit â€"œ up from last week 420)
• Mg â€"œ 1350 (Salifert test kit â€"œ same as last week)
• Mg â€"œ 1250 (Elos test kit â€"œ down from last week 1350)
• Potassium â€"œ380 â€"œ 390 range (Kz Test kit â€"œ same as last week)

My PO4 went slightly up….each time I add corals my PO4 seem to raise slightly?
Apart from that, all params seem to be inline with a slightly higher Ca, which will eventually come down with all those newly added corals ☺

Will try to hold the params…. Not too worry on my PO4 as it will eventually come down over time!!

:D

WOW....advice coming from another addict???

SO what would you call a reasonable timeframe for a FTS?? For me it should be every month or there is really no point in posting em :p

  :strooper: (not sure how that last one applies, but felt like usin it!) Reasonable for me? i guess when your adding stock every week maybe once a week. then when you slow down monthly for growth updates

let me know if it works, you don't need to pour out the whole gallon at once.

I tried last night but didn't work for me. I think the volume of water is too large for any viable change in Salinity. Maybe a nano will work better

But still manage to fish him out.... :p
