Eel Identification?

I was given this Eel a few years ago under the simple name 'Snake Eel' which seems like a pretty generic name. He is a great tank mate; eats everything including pellets, doesn't touch and fish or inverts, is very active and spends most of his time cruising around the tank when he's not buried in the sand with his head poking out. I figured it was worth knowing what he was if anyone does. He is approximately 45cm.

The pictures arent the greatest as I have a very cheap camera! These photos are about a year old but he still looks the same!

I think it may be a dark shouldered snake eel. They seem to have the same white striped top and bottom fins as well as the small pectoral fins. Very unique.

Just googled that, I agree on the ID. It's just plain awesome!

That's definately him! Thanks heaps, guys. Good to know what I have in my tank. He's a cool little dude.
