Eheim 1250 Pump Connections

Ok, I just bought an Eheim 1250 pump (my first Eheim). The pressure output connector appears to be sized for metric sized pvc.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to adapt this to 1/2" pvc? I can probably use the barb connector then get a nylon barb to 1/2" threaded, but that seems pretty ugly.

Thanks Doug. I'm pretty sure none of the local hardware stores sell 3/8" fittings. Do you know anyplace local for that sort of thing or should I look at mcmaster carr?

thanks for the offer, I already ordered them though. Cheaper than gas and tolls to des plaines for sure!

I have the 1250 and I first had it converted up to a 1" hose, very rigged, (3 adapters).. I emailed Eheim and they actually told me that their pumps are designed to perform best with the same size output...and you would lose GPH by using a larger hose.

Its output is 12/16mm which equals 1/2"

You can get the eheim brand hose from Dr Foster Smith, and if you use the Directional U-Tube CD -25768 For 5/8" - 3/4" tubing you can heat the hose up in boiling water and if you struggle it will fit...

mnestroy, I did a few conversions and don't follow what you said in your post.

12mm=0.47"
16mm=0.63"
the OD of 1/2 pvc pipe is 0.84"

It looks like a slip fitting of 22mm=0.87" might work, but A) I'm not sure how much play there is normally between a 1/2" pvc pipe and a 1/2" pvc fitting so I don't know if the gap should be larger or smaller than 0.03" and B) I don't have a supplier for metric fittings anywhere nearby.

Or did I miss your point entirely?
