Eheim came with 2 barb fittings, one smaller 5/8 for the outlet and a 1" for the intake. Would there be any problems just using 1" inlet for the outlet and not using any fitting for the inlet?

If I recall correctly the input and output are different sizes....I don't think the male end of the barb fittings would fit in the wrong hole. Other than that, no problem going larger on the output with no barb on the input

I have been using the 1" on the outlet for about a year with no problems but you might not get the 900 g/h that it states with the bigger pipe

You would get the same flow but will have less head losses over the run of the return line so you actually would get more flow then if you used the 3/4"

im pretty sure you get more flow ive got a 1260 that i put the 1 inch fitting on the out put and i timed filling up a 5 gallon bucket the 1 inch was faster than the 5/8

the 1 inch fitting threads in the outlet no problum you dont need a fitting on the inlet unless you run the pump outside the sump
