Electricity usage

Wife normally pays the bills. I never look at them. But on a whim I decided to see how much energy I will be saving by changing return pumps. Anyways, I looked at the KWh used section and I see 2,941? Average of 86.5 this past billing cycle? And the furnace was seldom on. ***?! We are in a 3 bedroom 1450 sqft house. 2 adults and 2 kids. That seems to me to be a metric **** ton of electricity usage, especially when I am reading that the average is just under 1000 KWh. Yes, we have an all electric home, but 3x the national average? Something dont seem right.

So, got me thinking. Dont need to know the $$, but how much KWh do some of you guys use in a month? Trying to figure out where I can cut back.

Make sure all lights are turned off when not home or not needed. same goes with coffee machines and what have you, even though there not being used, they still using electricity. Are you constantly doing laundry? Is your heat electric? DO some research, you be suprised.

Switching to LED bulbs will help a bit too, lowes has them for like 2 bucks each or something like that. If you have a electric heater, get a programmable thermostat, That helps a bit.

During winter mine is in the high 900's to low 1,000's
in summer its almost 3,000, but im also running a pool non stop

I live in a similar size house you do, but its just myself and my girlfriend.

and actually that I I have updated my tank, Im useing less power now than I was before, So im interested to see how that effects everything

We used 990 kwH for the past month. 2 story house with gas heat, hot water heater and stove.

If you have some items that you aren't sure how much energy they are consuming, you can pick up a kill a watt meter on Amazon for under 20 bucks. You just plug the item into the meter and the meter into the wall socket and it will tell you the KWH's being used.

After I got my meter, I was truly surprised by how much energy some items were actually consuming verses what it said they should be consuming on the box.

I used about 1186 kilowatts in the month of December. There are 3 of us in a 1100 square foot Craftsman with gas heat & hot water. My electric bill has gone up about 60% since I started reefing. I could probably cut that down somewhat if I ditched the dehumidifier's.

I'm like Chucklez, my wife normally pays the bills so I really had no idea. The last bill I could find was for the month of November. It shows 53.4 KWH. This is for a house with approximately 3200 square ft of heated space (new construction, all electric, 2x6 sidewalls packed with cellulose).

Of course, this is also with just a 20 long up and running. Now that I have the 140 up and going with a basement sump, it will be interesting to see how much it jumps. Last year I was at 87.3 KWH with slightly colder temperatures and a 75 gallon running.

Lol. No, my bad. I meant to say that the number I listed was a per day measurement. Looking at the bill the total usage was 1710 for the month.

I'm at 1339 on my last bill. Gas furnace, water heater, appliances. My family is home all day long because we home school, so there I know that costs me some extra kWhs.

My tank is at my office, so I don't really pay much attention to that bill. However, I do have a 27' above ground pool in my back yard. The summer months when that thing is running my usage comes close to doubling. This last July I used 2708 kWh. Now that's with the pool and with my AC that runs almost constantly in my little 1100sq foot, horribly insulated, house.

We use 1800-2100 per month on a 2000 sqft home, electrical appliances, 180 tank, pond, and pool in the summer months.
