Params are
1.025 Sal
7.9-8.2 PH variation throughout the day
500 calcium
9 Alkalinity
0 on all else you know!?!

Started knowing a calcium deposit on my elegance coral. Didn't pay much attention until until it started moving. It moved around the base of Elegance Coral for about a month. So I decided to take it out. When I removed it it was like a small crab like creature that continued to struggle even after it was out of water. Was wondering if this was my problem with this coral and provide insight on all others keeping this coral. All questions are welcome... been in my tank for almost 2 months.

tried to attach pics but wont let me. You would notice a calciuos type formation from the south to the south west. I removed this pure white extrament and turnded out out to be a white crab like structure fully alive and hungry for more. i put it in the trash can. Wish you could see all the pics but i will keep trying

Cataphyllia jardinei can be tricky to keep. Their tissue tears easily and they get infections. A crab irritating them could be an issue. High current and or very low nutrients or high light could be problematic too.

have had this coral for about 2 months... and has been expelling zooxethene for about 2 months under 6x39w t5ho but has stopped in the past 2 weeks. Has it been under too much light? It came from MH 22000. b please help me save this corals life i have plenty more photos please let me know if u need more.

I don't know anything about that coral, but those numbers seem fine to me. You could double-check some of the measurements, since problems there are common, but I suspect the problem lies elsewhere. I agree that the crab could be an issue.

I can't find the photos. I have not had good success with these corals in the low nutrient system I have. They live in turbid water ,likely it came from a lagoon with some partial shade from sea grass and lived on a muddy bottom. Many folks have trouble with them and little luck healing them once they begin to decline. They are sensitive to leather corals and caulerpa from what I recall. Best I can offer is shade it some in low flow and try feeding it some frozen food . You might get more information on the LPS forum. Perhaps someone there has more experience with them.

The numbers for water parameters you shared look ok. Are all the nutrients really at 0.? Those could be too low for it.

elegance are known to just die in captivity. no known reason. same thing with goniopora. no matter how hard some people try they just go eventually.
lucky to have both corals for 2 years
