Elos 160XL Re-Boot

Beautiful tank! My old tank didn't have a painted background and I kind of prefer it like that. I have my new tank painted black, but I find it looked brighter and deeper without the paint.

Looks awesome! 3mp40's? Lots of flow!

Thanks. Right now only one is working. I had two of the MP40 power supplies die on me. I am a huge fan of EcoTech and the MP40, but this shocked me a bit. Expensive pumps to have 2 out of 3 power supplies die on you within 3 years...

Here is some new pictures of the tank. Plus of some frags I got from Drs. Foster Smith. Some came looking better than others, but hopefully they will color-up soon. These were taken under 2x250 watt Phoenix 14k MHs, plus a mixture of T5s.

Wow this tank is stunning! I love the simplistic aquascape, it works so well for the tank! Can't wait to see this tank with full grown colonies sprouting about!

Those are some nice frags. I love the undata(which happens to be one of my favorites). Love the tank and beautiful job on the scape.

Thanks for the comments. Here are some pictures of my fish. All Anthias so far. Who can identify them? :hmm5:

And finally, as I mentioned I believe a tank needs to fit into its surroundings from a design perspective. My first tank stand was made of unfinished pine... no more of that for me. I want it to look just as good as any other furniture in the room, which has been a challenge all my life. I like how this one has turned out in that area, although more furniture and accessories are coming to this area of the room:

I agreed with you. But Elos has a modern and clean look and not every house in America will complement that.

As an example, the chandelier and drapery that you illustrate in the picture, does not flow with the modern look of your system.

Does not say is wrong. As long as your okay with the look. That's what matters.

Lol, you noticed, good eye. The chandelier is french gold, the draperies and rods is in the french style. While clearly not as modern as they Elos tank, they are all distinctly European. It's very difficult to have all things match the exact same design style without going custom on the stand, but it's close enough for us. Eclectic European, if you will. But definitely a long ways from pine!

Edit: By the way, I love Naples, have a second home there, in Old Naples. Would move there in a second if my job wasn't in Miami.

Man that tank is starting to really look good! All the vortechs working yet?

Yes, after changing all of the power supplies, all of the Vortechs are finally working. Have them alternating between reef crest, lagoon, nutrient export and night mode. SPS seems to like it, as all polyps are fully extended after I glued them in. Dosing ESV two-part and using GFO and carbon, along with the Elos skimmer, which I am still debating whether to replace or not. So far so good!
