Emergency ATO water?

Well, I've got 2 gallons of RODI left and my water guy is out of reach til Monday I'm afraid. My question is, in a pinch, til Monday, what is a safe alternative to RODI in my ATO reservoir? I've read so many different things my head is spinning. I know quality control is going to play a huge difference and yes I know I need my own RODI unit, please don't remind me :( If anyone has a sure fire bet to get me til Monday, I'd really appreciate it!

Any fish store will have rodi water. Bring a clean 5 gallon bucket. Should cost you $5. If in St Louis. Get involved is SLASH. Lots of good guys. Yes,agree 70 gallon should evaporate 2-3 per day.

Well, I'm about 3 hours from STL... The only marine LFS is closed on Sundays... would a place like pet warehouse or petsmart sell RODI?

Wow, I'm only going through 1.5/day on my 110 with 20 sump and a fan. Also super dry air in AZ. I say check the regional forums. I'm sure a local reefer would be more than happy to help.

Yeah, it gets nice and humid here lol I'll check and see what I can find... maybe I'll get lucky lol thanks for everything!

Just go to the grocery store and get some distilled water. It will do in a pinch. When my 210 was still running it evaporated a little less than 2 gallons per day.

So distilled will do for less than 24 hours? I'm sitting on about a gallon... I found a place that says they sell Rodi but I'm gonna have to bunk out on family dinner with the in-laws to get it in time... if the distilled would work, it would save me a lot of headache!

I'd be ditching the in-laws for sure, and you have the perfect excuse! Just kidding of course. I have used the distilled in the past with no negative effects, besides, you still have two gallons left so you won't need very much if any at all to get you by till tomorrow.

That's what I was thinking, maybe half a gallon at most... I can recover from that, if I have to I'll throw in a water change just to minimize any problems

do you have a Dollar General store near you? they sell ro/di water in gallon jugs. it'll be the jugs with the dark blue cap. of course, this won't get you out of socializing with the in-laws...

Distilled water from walmart is fine. Used it in my nano for 6m before getting my rodi unit up and running in my rental house. I believe it is the pink cap gallons if i remember correctly.

Yeah, that was a REALLY bad guess lol I'd say it's probably closer to .75 to 1 gallon a day simply based on all the info you guys have given lol
