Emperor angelfish disease?

So I have had this emperor angel for a month now and each morning it shows these strange white spots/patches. My water parameters are
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate: 20
Salinity:1.021

The tank is a 300 gallon fowlr. I got him as an adult from divers den. He still eats but won't eat nori. The strange thing is it goes away later on in the day. Is this just stress? Or is it some other kind of disease? Does anybody else's angelfish do this? Here are some pictures, what do you guys think? Thanks.

This is later in the day

Do you look your best in the morning? Your fish is just thinking about the day ahead and all that delicious food you will be feeding. Once s(he) gets their act together, they look as they should.

:lmao:

I had something similar with a bi-color angel last year, discussed in this thread:

I didn't get a consensus opinion it was ich, but I did TTM and it has not shown the morning white spots since. Only difference with yours is when you say it has been happening for a month? I would have expected you to see the ich cycle, where the symptoms go away after a couple of days then re-appear with the next cycle of hatching ich cysts.

If it is only in the morning and goes away quickly after the light is on and the fish shows no signs of discomfort I would say Steve is right.
When I check out my fish at night, many of them look from pale to completely discolored and that is completely normal.

BTW: this emperor is rather a subadult and most likely (still) a girl. These guys get over a foot long and males will have a more stretched out body shape.

Ok thanks. It doesn't go away that quickly, maybe after a couple hours. I didn't know that the males are stretched out more. Do the males get bigger than the females?
