Emperor Color Change

Okay I have updated this in a while but my Emperor hasn't updated much either. About the only thing I can notice is the lines have changed ever so slightly and his forehead is starting to turn yellow.

Wow he looks sweet like that!! I just got a majestic, and its 3 inches long. It is just about in it big boy cloths, , and you can hardly see any of the juv. blue. Ive alway loved emperors, but they get to big for me, and they are more likely to eat corals. My majestic is doing good with frogspawn, some random shrooms, and some xenia belive it or not. It did eat my polyps. But I only had a few, so if that is all it eats im good to go. Good luck with your emperor, they are great fish!!!

I've had him and a regal angel for 11 months. I have mostly sps with a torch, hammer and platygyra as my only LPS. I've never witnessed either of them nipping and they certainly haven't done any damage to any of my corals if they are nipping when I'm not looking.

The strange thing about these 2 fish is that regals are supposed to be shy but mine is always out and about when I'm in front of the tank. The Emperor on the other hand is very shy when people are looking. If I stand still in front of the tank he is usually stays out though. The Emperor is definately the king of the tank when it comes to the other fish. Every once in a while I catch him grunting to show them whos boss.

Seems to take forever to change...mine has been changing too for the past ~9months. Be glad when he is done changing though.

many books say they dont change fully adult colors in captive care, ayone experience that or the opposite? I am deciding maybe to get an adult form to make sure to get the adult coloration instead of a half changed fish.

I have seen a few people here on RC whos Emperor's have changed completely or at least close enough. Adult angels don't have the best track record of success either, I'd rather take my chances with a healthy juvi then a beautiful and expensive full adult that will more than likely perish in a short period of time.

Don't know if you've seen this thread, but here is a guy that bought an adult, he hasn't posted to that thread in weeks so hopefully his Emperor started eating:

WOW, that guys fish is way too big to adapt to captive life!! Beautiful fish, but it was even more beautiful on the reef...

hey man,
Just wanted to check in on your fish and see if you had an updated pic............mine just started the change and I would like to see how he is comming along.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but here is a shot from today. Hasn't changed much the last 5 months but the white juvenile arcs are all gone and the face has filled in a little more.
