Encrusting Monti Help

I have learned a lesson.. Not to be lazy and mount corals now instead of later. I had a turbo knock over a piece of sunset monti into my frogspawn. An edge has now bleached. Will the edge recover? Should I take some bone cutters and remove that part (its not too large but its not attractive) or live with it as a reminder to mount.

On a side note does anyone have any superman they could sell?

If it's a true Sunset, it grows pretty fast and will heal over the portion that was killed. That assumes your system is "clean" and algae doesn't get to it first.

I honestly dont think its true sunset even though this was how it was sold. A. it was abit too cheap. B. yes the polyps are bright green but the rest is abit more brown than orange
but hey I likes it so all that matters. No algae growth in my tank except some corraline. I will take your suggestion though and leave it be to see what happens. I will be sure to keep an eye on it.

not a very good pic... still working on those skills. All of the polyps have not fully extended back out but you can see the small section on top that has died

Looks very good, you should be fine and it should grow back over in a few weeks. Actually, I was expecting a bigger dead spot than the pic shows. Now, glue it down, but be careful with epoxies, as they can generate heat and kill a frag within about 1/4" from the epoxy IME. It is a nice frag you have, regardless of its lineage!

I havnt used epoxy ever yet and never even thought about it creating heat. I could see that as a problem as you mentioned. Even with that you would recommend it over superglue? I have some small pieces of live rock in my sump saved for glueing frags to. Should the epoxy cure in tank or outside? In the tank one would think it would dissipate heat better. Should I expect my euro-reef togo crazy during this?

That is a nice piece. I was expecting something smaller and with worse damage from a frogspawn. I've never used the two part liquid epoxy, either. If you let whatever you use adhere to the underside of the coral instead of the tissue, you should be fine. The skimmer may go nuts.
