Hi everyone, jarred got the corals from me. i gave him a rainbow monti and a superman, which were definitely browned out. most of my acros are doing fine, but i have noticed a decline in most of my montipora, specifically encrusting ones, so i gave them to him rather than let them die. I believe my problems were caused by the following:2x 250w pheonix 14k being 5 inches off the water, return line dripping water over a metal clamp which had some rust deposits in it back into the sump, salinity @ 1.023, ph @ 7.7, alk @ 7 dkh.
solutions: hung light over tank today, now 10 inches off of water. salinity is slowly being raised. ph is now 8.2. metal clamp was replaced with heavy duty pull ties. alk is 8 dkh.
already i have see a major improvement in my coral. I should have just sent this in pm to jarred but i hope this will be lesson for people with similar problems. btw, that monti looks much better under your led's lol. sorry about this long speech i have a feeling those monti's will make a turn around though.
