End of tang qt

So I got my mimic tang through tank transfer and he has been in my cycled qt for over two weeks now. Two rounds of prazi complete. This weekend was when I had planned to switch him to dt.
I noticed two white dots on one of the pectoral fins. Wish I could get a pic. One is hard to see. Anyways I waited over another night and they are still there. No other signs. Could this be ich? Should I wait to switch to dt?
Or is it most likely nothing. I do have a small bit if sand in the tank for when I had wrasses in there and I was hoping it was sand. Hard to tell.

And I just remembered I used a siphon hose on both tanks, so I may have infected everyone if it is ick. And I thought I was doing so good. I have another wrasse in ttm now too. Ive got a mess. No room for the wrasse and not enough room for 5 other DT fish. Infected cycled qt. I think my only option would be hypo, no way ttm on that many fish would be successfull.

the way i look at ick is similar to human getting a cold. since we cant stop ourselves getting a cold. do you stay home not going out? if i were you i will just treat the QT with cupramine.
plus to completely keep display tank ick free, that mean you have to QT everything that have a drop of water in them. do you QT everything from invert to coral for 4 weeks before putting them into display tank? if not, ick is already in your display tank. no point to worry.


keep one thing in mind, you dont see ick on your display tank fish dont mean you have no ick in display.

Yea I did qt clean up crew but not properly I admit. I rushed. I had a mess with orders being delayed and separated and then had to do a re ship and everything was all out of wack. Ive never used copper but I do have some and an older api test kit. I didn't think tangs and wrasse did copper well.

Well these white spots have been on the fin for 5 days now. From things I have read, this would be abnormal for ich. I'm not sure where to go. Gill movement seems to be average. I wanted to count but heaven for bid they stay still. Eats like a champ and is not shy at all.

Well there is a change. The water was cloudy for an unknown reason so I did a 40% water change last night as well as siphon some algea and half of the sand I had left in the at. During filling a lot of debris and samd was kicked up and it's obvious it bothered the tang. Well today the water looks better but the tang is breathing fast. I can barely see movement in the gills but I can count the gulps of the mouth. His gills appear puffed out possibly. Still eats and looks fine. Two white spots still on the pectoral fins. I don't know what to do. Is the breathing just inflammation from the dirty water and will subside?

If even the suspicion of disease do not put it in the display.

Well I'm going to dose cupramine. All I have is a api test kit so I'm going to order a salifert but I'm going to dose 1/4 dose per day and hopefully I'll get it Saturday.

is it showing any other symptoms like flashing or twitching? It could be Lympho.

No. I didn't see flashing but maybe twitch. Ive never had a tang so I dont know normal behavior. Like dwarf angels have this erratic swimming style sometimes. I looked up lymph but the bump is not large and has not changed size. Should I not do copper? I'm concerned with the fast gill movement which began as explained my last post.

Coming home from work tonight, I see the respiration has decreased a little, the gill flaps don't seem so inflamed. the white spot as mentioned in first post still remains. Perhaps another blemish on the body appearing, but not white, but tiny pimple like. He is feeding very aggressively on anything I feed. His color is quite bright tonight.

Well day three of full copper. Tested, seems to be jusy under .5ppm copper. The tang is back up to 90 respiration a minutes looks stressed. Stopped eating. The white spot on the fin persists. At this point I don't know what to do. Remove copper today with water changes or keep going with copper. I don't know why the change. I started dosing copper on Wednesday and my last post all was well. Now I'm back to square one. Feeling like I'm on the verge of losing a hard to get fish. In leaning towards a small case of lymph. I want to put him in DT if I'm ending copper. QT is to stressful and I'm getting no where.

3 days not long enough bro. If it's ick it will live while on the host fish. It's when it goes through its free swimming stage the cupramine will destroy it. I run 4 weeks of cupramine on all my new fish with one round of prazi. Hang tight with the copper. If it's ick it will kill it at .5. Trust me.
