Hey Craig,

Do you remember what model number the reactor is?

Does it have the sponges to keep them from coming out the top?

Hey Ray,

If I remember correctly it is the MR5 but I had the acrylic tube that makes up the body cut two inches higher than the standard model so I could fit 1000 ml of the bio pellets inside. So instead of a 12" tube it is like 14".

Yes, I still have the sponges, never used them. It has the mesh disks as well. Also, came with a flow valve I never used.

I'm actually only taking the reactor down because I got a Midwest Aquatic De-nitrifier off Craigslist and I'm going to run the sulfur beads for awhile. I can't seem to get my nitrates all the way to zero with the bio-pellets and my achilles tang gets cranky when they start creeping up.

Craig, have you thought about running a remote deep sand bed? Those can sometimes help quite a bit with nitrate control.

Craig - how old or how much use do the sqwds have on them.

Ted- They are in good shape. Not sure on age, I bought them on here last September but never used them. I can test them again for you and make sure they are working properly if you like.

I have thought about it. I do like the dsb concept but the reactor is easier for me to setup in my sump actually. From my research the reactor and sulfur beads seemed to work faster and I wanted something I could service or take on or off line easily.

yes please test for noise and even timing of flow on each side. I am currently using 2 and both are starting to fail- cant complain= 2-3 years use on each one.
