Equipment review

After one of my battery powered fish feeder went wacky on me and dumped a whole cup of food into my tank, I did some research and found this feeder.

I have used this feeder for about a year now, and I highly recommend it. I hooked it up to my controller and it turns this feeder on twice a day to feed my fishies, it has worked flawlessly

CO2 regulator

I had a Milwaukee regulator and that thing suxs , it is always loosing pressure and drop my buble count so I have to constantly adjusting it, So I got this

http://www.aquariumplants.com/AQUARIUMPLANTS_com_s_Co2_Regulator_The_BEST_p/co2-1.htm

I will install it today and will post the result. This is suppose to be the best and it comes with a 3 year warrantee

If anyone have anything that they have used that works flawlessly that you highly recommend, please post it here so we can have a nice library of highly rated equipment for our fellow reefers.

Calcium cloride, DOW flakes ... you can buy it at

Purity supply in Santa Rosa, CA

If you can't find a local supplier then buy it online @ twopartssolution. com

If you are buying kalk to supplment your calcium, then stop wasting your money. Use

Miss Wade pickling lime (< 3 bucks a lb). Walmart will carry this product in the early fall so stock up then.

Here's the one I'm going to use. I heard great feedback on it but I got it with my new tank so I lucked out. If I were to buy a new regulator I heard JBJ's are best bang for the buck.

I went to Amerigas on Piner and picked up a Victor Regulator 5 years ago, set it and forget it. From full tank to empty tank no adjustments needed, 120 bucks + some gas for Arnolds Hummer.
It has a flow meter on it, but it never moves with the slow bubble count I have it set for.
That was after sending back the M3 setup I bought with the reactor which was making me crazy.

That one looks good, but the regulator is also by Milwaukee so am not sure if it will last. JBJ is good and is much better than Milwaukee, but it also have a moderate rate of failures so I am not sure about JBJ either, I've seen some complaints about it in several forums.

Guy, how much did you paid for that one? its is listed for $237 yike ... looks like professional grade though.

So the M3 wasn't performing? Hmmm.... if thats the case I may look into that regulator that you just got. What reactor are you using?

Also keep in mind there may have been inprovements in the M3.
I bought my reactor package from Marine Depot in 2003, and could not keep the bubble count steady, leave for work with a bubble count of 4 per minute and get home with a bubble count of 10, reset it and wake up in the morning to find it only producing 2 BPM.:mad2:

Also, I do not have the electric selenoid.

I may as well post the Carbon article here to keep it all together.

If you ever wonder what is the best carbon to use, then you need to read this article

If someone know where to buy Bulk Calgon carbon, please post the link .. TIA

Intersting... I have the same reactor and the regulator is 2006 with an electric selenoid. I guess its going to be a trial run for me. Thanks for feedback....

We at NCR make our own calcium reactor man

Tom,

How's your new skimmer doing? It should be broken in by now... And do you still have that G3? Are you willing to sell it, if so PM me I may have someone interested in it.

Jason, I am keeping the G3 to back up my main skimmer for now. The cal reactor is working great, I'll reconfigure it latter for reverse flow to make it more efficient

I finally installed the new CO2 regulator

http://www.aquariumplants.com/AQUAR...EST_p/co2-1.htm

And it is a very high quality product, everything works flawlessly so far.
The valve open up the pressure has a lock nut so adjustment is not needed each time you need to refil. The bubble count needle valve also has a lock nut so once the setting is done, you can lock it so no adjustment is needed after replacing or refil the co2 tank. After 1/2 a day, everything still looks good, the bubble count stay constant, I am liking this :D
