ESHINE 48X3W 4G lighting fixture experience

How much do these fixtures go for? I may try one on my 40 gallon.

Easiest way to get most up to date pricing is to e-mail them, or talk to them through their instant messaging system on their website.(they'll only be on during the night/morning because of the time difference) Remember to ask for shipping prices as well. Depending on the size and weight the shipping will be slightly different, but for single unit, will not be more then 100$ shipping.

Yes i'd make the same choice. I like the auto dimming and control that i have. I'm sure 2 60w or the 48X3w would be fine to keep acros. These are still 3w cree LED's that are run at 2w's, which is pretty much what all the 3w Cree LED systems do. When i asked eshine about which one to go with, they suggested the 60w's because of coverage/spread. I figured with the 48X3w i'd get more LED's for the price, and a controller out of it. So for me the value was much higher on the 48X3w and the spread wasn't too big of a concern for me. If you want even spread throughout the tank and such, you might want to get the 60w. Otherwise, i don't see any reason not to go with the 48X3w + controller. Hope that helped.

definately helps, like you I think I will go w/ 48x3, i could always get another one in the future, when I upgrade...
thanks

i don't like the controller. If the power gets turned off, the time resets on the controller and then u need to reset the time.

So for example, I can't have my apex control the lights with on off if i needed, otherwise i would need to reset the time manually again

I keep going back and forth between 3 of the 36 or 48 led fixtures.. I am setting up a 210g where each section would be 24" x 24" x 29". Im leaning towards the bridgelux for the assortment of colors available. anyone have an opinion on 36 vs 48

for the price difference you might as well go 48, and turn them lower if it's too strong, or you could get like 2 of 1 and 1 of the other if you want.

i wasnt planning on getting their controller so dimming wont be an option. That why I worry about being too strong and pushes me towards 36.. i also thought about maybe 2 36's and a 48 in the center. im nervous to pull the trigger

My 60" tank has good coverage with two 24" units. 48X3W. Take into consideration the lenses and the height over the tank surface. I opted for no controller. Just the dimmers.
No issue.

-I already received an answer from Ivy (eshine) , they will send me the cable this day with DHL to me .
Curious how long it takes for DHL to get it on my doorstep...

greetingzz tntneon :)

It might be because what e-shine does is they first ship the items from china(where their office/factory is) to Hong kong, which takes a day or two. Then DHL takes it from Hong Kong to your doorstep. not the most efficient, but what you have to deal with.

from what I've seen there are 4 different versions of every unit. & 5 versions of most units that are 36x3W & up.

single channel non dimmable
single channel dimmable
dual channel dimmable
dual channel dimmable with 2 cords
& controlable

I've got the 4G 24x3W dual channel dimmable unit(1 plug) with 90 degree optics. I just picked it up this past weekend & I haven't set it up on my tank yet but i probably will this weekend. it's going over a little 12G nanocube tank. Yes I know it's extremely overkill, but I wanted the lights to upgrade with me.

I'll get pics up once it's hanging.

Does anyone have an opinion of the combination LED with t5 advertised on Eshines web site. Do you think this would be a better way to adjust colors with the the different t5 combinations available ?

Just placed my order with Peter pan. Haha! I went the bridgelux route because I wanted the customization of color. They let you custom it exactly the way you want it as far as led placement is concerned. Nervous and excited at the same time

If I had more money to spend I would have bought these for sure! Theyre $300 ea with bridgelux LEDs and about $499 with Cree + shipping. Shipping is steep

I was in contact with Peter last night. I've been looking at the 4G 48/3W Cree w/ lunar. For my 150XH (48Lx24Wx30H) I would need 4 units. Each unit (cree) is $300USD and the Bridgelux is $215USD. Because my tank is so high and because I keep SPS and clams, I'm opting for 30 or 60 degree focus (probably the 60). The spread of each 30 degree unit at approximately 42" up (30" tank depth plus 12" above the tank) is 30"x10" (the units are around 23"x5.75"). The par readings at this depth, acording to their ratings, blow a 400W MH out of the water and are close to that of a 700W MH equiv.

The even out the spotting effect, I think I'll go with the 60 degree focus (because I also don't want to have to hide mushrooms and softies under ledges. Each unit DOES have to have it's own controller and can only be controlled by that controller. Is $1200+ worth it for controllable high output LED lighting......I'm not sure yet. I can say that I have spent a few hundred more than that on my NEW Panorama Pro system and it isn't controllable, which I dont like. I do think these units have the same power and output at the equiv SOL units at 1/4 of the price. If you have a deep tank, the CREE is the way to go over the Bridgelux as the output is a good 25% more or higher.

4 of these units on a 4' tank does seem like a lot for the output each unit produces, but due to the small light spread, it MAY be necessary......I guess we'll see. Let me know any other info you may have, as I may pull the trigger in the next few weeks or so.

Pryorrods, That seems super excessive. On a 48" even at 30" depth I wouldn't do any more than 2x 48x3w. Even with the bridgelux you will keep clams in the bed.

I was hoping that was excessive! That was the recomendation Peter gave me last night. How spotty do you think 2 units would be if placed lengthwise? He said I should use 4 units place front to back. Looking at the lighting figures they provide, 4 units should fry anything under them on a 4 foot tank. Maybe I'll try 2 units and use T5's to fill in the spots

I dont think it would be spotty at all with 2 of the 48x3 fixtures.. You could probably even go with the 36x3.. Keep in mind that anything you put on your rocks will be closer to the fixtures and more likely to toast.. I got 2- 36x3 for my 120g which is 4x2x2 and I will be moving them onto my 210 and adding another light source for the middle. These are brighter than you think. at 30" depth rapidled recommends 30 cree leds so assuming the output is 20% less with bridgelux, 36 should be fine. I can always add to it if needed. I think peter will tell you what you want to hear. He is trying to sell a product.

Thanks for the info Phishguy! Now, I guess my only dilema is going with cree or bridgelux. I think I'm going to go with the 48/3's with the controller since the extra cost isn't much from the 36. I can always dim down. They say cree is a higher quality light, but who knows? If they work out, I may switch lights with my 48x30x30. I'm planning on moving up to a 72x36x30 later in the year and adding a single extra fixture is a pretty cost effective way to go.
