Has anyone used this salt yet? If so, what were the numbers and the mixability of the salt? How will this compare to the new Tropic Marin bioactif salt? Thank you very much.

im interested also.... I hear it comes with diff mixes that you have to dose seperately for CA MG ALK...etc.

This is what another fellow reefer posted a link to. It has parameters listed at the end.

A unique solution to many of the problems associated with all dry synthetic seawater blends.

Problem:
All dry blends may not be homogenous resulting in considerable chemical variations not only from batch to batch but also from within the same container. Aggravating this further, humidity contamination during storage can result in localized precipitation reactions.

Solution:
B-Ionic Seawater System avoids these problems by providing the two dominant salts in our formulation in separate containers. All other major, minor, and trace elements are pre-dissolved in a highly concentrated two component liquid system. These dry and liquid components can easily be measured for any size batch of synthetic seawater.

Problem:
It is now recognized that most reagent grade salts can contain contaminants (trace metals, etc.) at levels which may inhibit the growth of some algae species from low nutrient environments (oligotrophic) such as coral reefs.

Solution:
B-Ionic Seawater System addresses this issue by providing ultra-low heavy metal Sodium Chloride (max. allowable less than half max. allowable for reagent grade sodium chloride) and USP grade Magnesium Sulfate as the dry components of the system. In addition, all other chemicals pre-dissolved in our liquid components are subject to our three phase purification process resulting in significant lowering of contaminants, including phosphate.

Problem:
Many all dry blends take excessive time to completely dissolve. Addition of newly mixed batches to the aquarium can cause irritation to inhabitants upon exposure to non-dissolved salt micro-particles.

Solution:
B-Ionic Seawater System avoids this problem by providing all of the slower dissolving ingredients in a pre-dissolved solution form. Batches can be used within 10 minutes of preparation with no adverse effects providing initial RO and/or DI water contains sufficient dissolved oxygen.

B-IONIC SEAWATER PARAMETERS (@ 34 ppt salinity):
450 ppm Calcium • 3.25 meq/L Alkalinity • 1400 ppm Magnesium
Formulated, Manufactured and Packaged at ESV's facility in the USA.

I am very excited about this salt mix! We received our first batch a couple of weeks ago, but I have yet to mix any up. I plan on converting my personal system over to this once my existing bucket is used up. This should be within the next couple of weeks.

This would be great if it is a high quality salt. Perfect for smaller water changes. It sounds like it solves the issue of settling but time will tell if its a quality product. I hope that it is. Let us know how the product works for you.

i just did my first water change, i made a 50 gal batch and it was as advertised clear in minutes after mixing. it was a little tedious with the extra mixing and dosing but all in all it looks like a quality salt.

i got 420cal, ph 8.14, alk 9dkh, i did not test for mag. i only did a 50 gal water change in my 290g DT so i don't have anything conclusive yet but i did not notice any adverse affects. a couple of ppl that were beta testers of the salt are switching over because they noticed increased growth rates in there sps.

update on the ESV salt, after my first water change i noticed a cyano outbreak, i tested the DT for phos and came up .02 with a Hanna meter, which is a good #. i then tested my RO/DI, i got .11 after the DI so i changed out the DI and re-tested and got .03.....i was expecting 0 but i live in NY so the cooler temps may be hindering the RO.
i then made up up another 50gal batch to do another water change after mixing and letting it settle overnight, i tested again for phos and the newly made up batch had .10, i am feeding phos to my DT instead of removing it. i think i may have to filter the made up water thru some GFO before using the water.
I suspect that the increased growth rate and coloration that my friends seen is from the phos additions they were making from doing water changes. i will contact ESV about the phos levels of there salt.

after some further research, i found my Hanna meter to be off .03.....i tested it with distilled water and it seams there had been work done in my neighborhood on the water mains so my RO filters were clogged with sediment contributing the the excess phos. i then mixed a 5gal batch, in a clean bucket with new filters on the RO and came up with .05 phos which is acceptable giving my Hanna has a +.03 deviation. i suspect the cyano outbreak is mostly do my RO's performance in recent weeks.

Jeremy: Looking forward to your results. I just purchased the 200gallon boxes from a local vendor and am switching over from IO.

Will post back with results in a month..

care to post a picture of your personal home tank :P
