Here's a photo of my euphyllia stinging my little "green slimer" while the clownfish watches!

It's going to be difficult to move either of them. The slimer is only being stung repeatedly in one spot (which has whitened) but otherwise the rest of the polyps are open.

My question is, will the slimer continue to survive and grow if it is stung just in the one area or will this localized stinging cause the whole piece to die?

If it doesnt get infected it may just keep growing. YOu might consider putting a little piece of egg crate between them and see if it would help separate them

You have to move one or the other. That frag is way to close to the Euphyllia to have a chance.

As Bill and others have pointed out, you need to move one or the other. The Euphyllia will grow at a much faster rate and continue to sting the frag over a larger part of its skeleton. At some point the frag will simply die.

As a VERY temporary measure, you can slide a small scrap of acrylic between them if you can manage to keep it in place. The hammer will send a stinger through eggcrate. This might buy you some time to figure out how to move one or the other. But as all have said, they need more room between them. Most LPS are far more aggressive and will win such turf wars.
