I don't think ER sells their venturi. I could b wrong though.

The H&S volute and venturi might be the best way to go. I think cerreta may have some info on this.

I do know the reason why it may be difficult to find these parts and assemble a working pump is that both H&S and ER would probably rather not see a simple DIY version of their pumps easily available.

Cheers,

Jim

edit: I take that back. I just looked at the ER website. You can buy the venturi and volute from the site, but only for the sp4. I cannot find one for the eheim.

The sp4 ER gen-x is a monster. Great pump for a skimmer IMO/IME. Its just a little loud. But I'm not sure if anyone has been able to DIY a genx4100 that performs as well as the ER.

Jim

I'm pretty sure the 1262 volute is suitable. That other Ehiem thread showed the 1262 volute is basically the same as the Deltec/H&S volute.

As far as the Gen-X 4100, you have to see probably the best DIY skimmer I have ever seen powered by 4 Gen-X 4100s.

Meshwheel friggin rocks on Gen-X 4100!!!!!

The proof is in the NOG production - this collection cup was cleaned 5 days ago - pics from 5 hours ago...

Oops - RC250 w/Eheim needlewheel.

Your skimmer with the 9 million pumps looks like a dialysis machine - I'm waiting to see some stink juice in it....

Not my skimmer (I wish). Its a DIY. The guy who did it is kentrob11. Incredible work.

And yes, it does actually work.

Nice shots PITSTOP!

Yeah, kentrob really hooked it up with that DIY skimmer. $1600 invested! But the comparable Deltec is like $5000, so he really came out on top.

Now all he needs are some eheims.......... ;)

A quick note on the 1250's,

Isn't eheim releasing some 1250 NW's here soon? Wouldn't it be better for ER to just wait for those to come out and then slap them on skimmers? Does anyone have a timeline for these pumps?

I dont no if the Gen x is the best suited pump for a mesh mod. some have very will with it.
I think their are better suited pumps for mesh gg...

Here a incredible mod done with a 18 Watt pump pulling, best I can tell, about 800 - 900 LPH. He will have a meter on it this weekend.

The Photo kind of speaks for itself

with the valve all the way open you can see the water level about 2 1/2" below the transition and the foam (really dry) coming into the cup.

Roland Jacques:

the ER gen x pump are monster and the air that i pull with the mesh on the gen x 6000 no one pull here with any other pin impeller more then that the air intake on the gen x it's small and i believe if it will be big like kent mod on his pump the air will increase , yes the pump loud and this is the hard part IMO.
the gen x with the mesh rock and if the air intake will be increase i believe the pump can pull 30lpm.

the eheim quite pump and when i try it i love the silence but still even with the mesh it's can't compete the gen x pump (maybe the eheim 1264 can come near but the price of this pump close to $400)

p.s don't forget Jeff mod this pump with mesh (different one but still it's mesh) and because of that the perform look like that on the picture i don't believe that regular pin impeller was perform like that;)

Lunchbucket :

if you want to change the gen x pump because the noise i understand that but if you want to change the pump because you want perform better skimming result in your collection cup i suggest to you to try first the mesh on the gen x pump .
if you will try it ,when you will see the result in the collectiobn cup you will not believe that this is your skimmer working there:eek1:

mavgi - so use the mesh on the pump for the RC80...isn't that a sedra 3500? you do the mesh on the 3500 too??
