Euro Reef foam level adjust help

Euro Reef RS135. I tried adjusting the foam level in the skimmer to the 1/2 of the collection cup but it just makes foam pour over the top so fast. I tried closing the air intake, then opening that and closing the pvc pipe it shows to turn to adjust foam levels but nothing works.

Any help is appreciated, the new tank water has no filtration and it almost looks like it is going green again (water).

You should adjust the water level of the skimmer with the pump off. I'm guessing you want the water level 1" under the bayonette fitting. Then fire up the pump and adjust your air to skim wet or dry.

The air intake is supposed to be open all the way all the time. So I would open the valve all the way and turn the pipe all the way to open, let it run like this (with no adjustments!) for about 3-4 hrs., overnight if possible. Then slowly and gently turn the adj. pipe towards closed little by little, Patience is key. You won't notice any rise in the foam until you get closer to closed, but trust me, you want to adjust the pipe SLOWLY, over several hours, I've done mine over the course of a day before. If you rush the skimmer you will constanly have to start over, so adjust slowly!

Good Luck

Alright, I took the cap off the collection cup and I will let it run for a while, thanks!

Why would you remove the cap of the collection cup?

I removed the cap because I can't get it adjusted right so it foams up all the way over and fills fast with just water, so I'm letting it run for many hours to break it in I guess so I can adjust it then.

If it is overflowing you have to lower the level. Depending on the outflow type. Slide the riser down or open the wedge pipe more.

I would go ahead and turn it off, then turn the adjustment pipe all the way to open (water shouldn't rise up with the pipe all the way open), make sure the venturi air valve is all the way open ( with the handle aligned with the air intake tube) and then turn the skimmer back on and wait a few hours, preferably overnight to let the skimmer calm down before making any more adjustments.

The riser pvc pipe is all the way down and all the way open along with the air intake being all the way open. The skimmer maybe ran 4-5 hours yesterday for its 'break in' time. Plugged it in today and it still overflows with just water, so are 70 dollar coralifes way better than 300 dollar euro reefs? What's wrong with this skimmer? Thanks.

More info is needed. All the way down and all the way open? Which is it? Which type of outflow do you have? How deep in the sump is the skimmer?

Post pics if possible.

I will go grab a pic quick. The pipe is all the way down with the it all the way open. Along with that the air intake is all the way open so it is taking in the most air to reduce water intake and it still overflows the collection cup fast. The skimmer is sitting in around 6-7" of water.

What do you mean by the outflow? The pump that came with it or how the water flows back out?

thats something in your water i think. its foam, not water so your skimmer is performing. just leave the top off and let it run. eventually whatever that is in your water will break down and things will be back to normal.

The air tub should be open %100. You shouldnt even have the adjuster thing on there... cause even if that is open %100 it is still blocking some air.

You need to adjust the riser tube... doing that will adjust the "bubble level" in the skimmer. Or install a Gate Valve on the output, with a gate valve its easier to adjust the "bubble level"

Also.. check Euro Reefs website... or the directions that came with it.
"In Sump" skimmers have to be sitting in a certain amount of water. To me it looks like it might be sitting in to little of water which will throw off the levels in the skimmer. Their website and the directions will tell you how many inches of water should be around the skimmer.

Check to make sure you can blow through the tubing with the red adjustment valve on it.It should be easy to blow through,if not something is pluggged .This will cause your problem. Also make sure the tubing isnt kinked. It should be in 6-7 inches of water. There is no riser on that to raise or lower, its the model you turn the pipe to open on closed, turn it all the way to where it says open.

Well, you can tell the air intake is right because closing it the other way makes the foam really pour over. So being foam, the skimmer is actually working right? That's what it does though, as you can see in the picture, there is tons of foam that comes over the collection cup and pours right back in the water. The tank has sat for about a week now without the skimmer running though, so wouldn't those tiny particles making the skimmer do that be settled?

So it is working then huh, since it is foam?

How long do you think it will be before those tiny particles making the skimmer do that break down so it works better pulling the green/brown out?

Thanks.

Did you check the tubing to make sure you could blow through it?
