okay guys, attempted to order the ER cs-80 and apparently Marine Depot is out of them. they want to replace my order with the rs-80 model. can some one tell me what the difference is (even though most say none), and if i should go with it or wait until it is restocked? I am new to salt water and was looking for a helpful opinion. thanks.

They both perform the same and are made from cast acrylic.

The RS series in bonded w acrylic glue and uses ABS plates (like Deltec) and the CS is PVC welded with thicker PVC plates (like H&S)

You can also try other retailers like Custom Aquatic. I'm sure there are several others as well.

The design is identical. RC Top and bottom are acrylic instead of PVC and the parts are solvent welded (acrylic glue) rather than hot air welded. Basically the construction is not as robust on the RC series. You should get a lower price.

sweet guys, this helps. so you think i should ask for a discounted price or go to a different retailer? keep the suggestions coming, i appreciate it.

shorter future models?

shorter future models?

I'd love to own a ER skimmer, the problem is that my sump area is only 20". Does ER have any plans to make a smaller (shorter) skimmer in the future? You mentioned the RS50 could you provide any specs on expected production models?

Supa - take your pump out and your air hose off. then lookinto your air hole on your venturi. i'm betting it's clogged. take a toothpick or a drill bit (smaller then the hole) and clean all that gunk out of there.

let us know

Thanks man, its working!!

omaha ocean,

I gave you some misinformation. I apologize.

The RS series DOES NOT use ABS.

The CS80 is available at premium aquatics and custom aquatics as of now. :)

And yes, Euroreef has been booted from this thread :(:(

Its a real bummer. Hopefully in the future, the mods/staff will reconsider and allow Jeff to post here again.

Just a guess, but probably using this thread as a sponsor's forum to announce new products etc. without paying for a sponsor's forum. I could be wrong though.

Hi all, I'm new to the club. I have a CS 80 and I'm looking for info on the gatevalve mod. How high does the tee go before the 90 degree turn down?

printedpaper,

About at the level where the body meets the neck.

Check out where euro-reef puts it on their RC models here and copy that. The big danger is putting it too high, not too low.

Good news,

After expecting my skimmer to arrive yesterday and being very dissapointed when it didn't show up, it looks like it is on the truck and will arrive today.

It is amazing how excited I am. As long as all goes well I will post pictures tonight.

No Eheims. Just the regular plain jane SP4s. This skimmer is going in a fish room that is already noisy so for me noise is not an issue.

I probably will not upgrade to the eheims unless the feedback is overwhelming. I do, however, plan to upgrade the impellers when the new ones come out.
