sugar - should be a good skimmer for a 75gal tank. bigger is always better but an ES5-2 would do well.

crabsy - no prob..i want to know so i figured everyone else would

Hey All,
I was wondering when you clean your collection cup do you shut off your main pump to the skimmer or do you just let it overflow?

Looking for some imput...

I am faced with a decesion.... I can get a ER RS-100 for an even trade...or I can forego the trade and hold out for a bigger skimmer.

Tank Specs. This will be going on a 65 Gallon SPS dominated tank, with a 20 gallon long sump/fuge and a DSB.

I keep my fish load on the light to medium side (for the last five months I have only had a pair of clowns), but then again I have been waiting for a new skimmer so I can add some more fish. Currenlty plan on adding a mandarin, a goby/pistol shrimp combo, and a pygmy angel. That may be all, but you never know.

As I said, I can have an ER RS-100 free and clear. Does anybody have any opinons, think that this skimmer will be sufficient or insufficient?

thanks in advance,

I just let it overflow. No harm done at all.

as i understand those eheim pump are the 1260 and will run just on the rc model . not on the standart rs or cs . from my test on the eheim pump i can tell it's a good pump the performance will be the best on the small skimmer or 2 of them on the big one.
to get a good performance on the big skimmer 30" high it will be like the rc model a small maxijet or from the drain pipe that will feed the skimmer at this way the air flow will be at the highest reading and the pump will have less back pressure and creat more bubble. if i will have some time i will modify my on the CS8-3 like the rc model and will post some resutl here.

now the eheim run meantime on my CS250 .

I have a ES5-2 series Euroreef with a sedra 3500,is there a way to upgrade the skimmer?

you can modify the pump and it will give you a better performance if you want but you will need to cut the pins from the wheel impeller and to put instead the DLS material it will increase more air and more bubble.
i test it on sedra sp-c and berfore i read 3-5 l/min with my flow meter after i modify it i read 10 l/min .you can see on my post in previews page how the impeller look like. i am not sure if the sedra 3500 build like the sp-c but if yes you will get a better result. if you decide to do it you need to know that you will change the original impeller and if you will not like it you lost $50 impeller so before you do it you need to know if you want to take the risk. in my test it was work on the pump but i just try to help and don't want to be blame if it's get wrong .
i take that risk i don't know if you want to take it :)

mavgi,Thank you.No I wont blame you if something goes wrong.I understand the risks when doing any mods or upgrades.I'll look for your posts and see if I want to try it.Thank you again :)
