My CS 5-2 came in today. I can't believe the foam it produces. I can't wait for it to break in and start producing some good scunge. I'll post some pics tomarrow.

fragn'stein - glad to hear you got it FINALLY. waiting to get the money and then the week it ships is the worste part IMO. get a new pic of your pride and joy.

i know when i upgraded from a super reef devil (SRD) to my ES5-2 i was completely BLOWN away. this was right when the 5 series came out. such a great little skimmer and for the price you can't beat it!!!

oh smell your skimmate when you get a nice dark good amount of it...then tell us how much you love your ER.

I have a es5-3 and it comes w/ the stock sedra. I however want to very much upgrade the pump to something stronger. I have in my 2-3 years w/ my ER never have over flow or anything like that.

I did a search and even posted in the ER section a while back, but no replies or anything.

So any help? Should i wait for this new 'beta pump' or what? What shoudl I do.

I've been running a CS8-3 for two months, but am now starting to cure LR. Can you explain to me about adjusting the riser arm? If I understand correctly, the higher the riser tube, the wetter the foam is?

Ledford, if you want a really wet foam, buy or put together a gate valve mod for your Euro-Reef. It allows you to really raise the level of the water column in your skimmer:

Here's a pic of my CS5-2 running.

As you can see it has a while to go before it breaks in. Notice the large bubbles in the neck. Did you new ER users have large bubble at the beginning?

I am glad you posted that picture. I just bought a CS 6-2+ and set it up today. I have large bubbles in the neck too. I want to know if that is normal during the break-in, too. What about it ER old-timers? :)

Larry

Two questions for all you profrssionals out there. I purchased my CS6+2 for my 75 gallon tank. will this be suffient for a 75 gallon tank heavily stocked? I am getting alot of wet foam and no dry foam. Is this normal? Or how would I get dry foam... do I have to raise the skimmer?

Larry, It looks normal to me. My CS12-2 external took three or four weeks to break in, but it has been doing great ever since!
Mike

6-2+ will work fine for a heavy stocked 75. I run the same skimmer on my 125 FOWLR. But, I have decided to upgrade. Talk about waiting, man I still have at least 2 weeks before it's shipped. My 6-2+ took about 2 weeks to break in fully, but now it's kickin a$#. I clean it 2 or more times a week. Jim

lmattix. My CS5-2 is already starting to produce foam since I posted that pic yesterday. The top of the neck is already brown green and the large bubbles have turned to smaller, more foaming bubbles. I have a feeling by this time next week this thing will be a skimming monster. :strooper:

I'm looking for a DIY FAQ for any mods for our ER, I'm using a 5-2 in a 58g, it skims pretty wet, I usually empty the cup every other day. any help would be appreciated :)

One thing I have noticed about my ER is that it leaks around the collection cup. Not the union, but the bottom of the cup where the cup is PVC welded to the bottom piece here:

Has anyone else had this problem? I used some of the silicon grease that came with the ER and ran a bead in the weld to stop the leak. HTH with the problem.

As a matter of fact you can see the saltcreep on the bottom right of that spot if you look close.

I have a CS6-2+, I would like to join the club :D
What size tubing is needed on the air intake? I bought the skimmer used, and I lost that tube...

My CS 6-2+ sometimes leaks too under the collection cup connector. There is a groove on the bottom of the cup but no O-ring. Any one have an between the cup and the tower? Here is my skimmer after several hours:
Only a little skimmate though.

Has anyone else had this problem?

That doesn't happen on mine. Unless you want to send it back for repair you could silicone the inside (not just the grease, but the real stuff).

Any one have an between the cup and the tower?

I'm pretty sure mine have an o-ring in the union.

So a CS5-2 will be more than sufficient for a 58g? Getting my list together for the 58 and have heard all the hype about these skimmers.
