Does anyone know of a diffrent pump I can use for my CS6+2 besides the Sedra? it's makes too much noise and vibrates my entire DIY 55 gallon sump/ecosystem.

I use an Ocean Runner 2700 on my CS 6-2+. Best price is $49.95 from Custom Aquatic. I think it's a much better quality pump than the Sedra.

ANyone know where I can get a replacement pump for my 6-3 sedra 5000 .... seeing i cannot trouble shoot what my problem may be im guessing ill have to buy the entire pump.

ReefKeeper 1 how are you supposed to place the air tube on the pump? There is no connector for it. The CS+2 can't perform now right? How would you do that? If you can I will just get a mag drive 1200.

A mag drive wont have a needle wheel impeller in it. W/out this, the skimmer will be useless. Unless mag drive makes a pump with a needle wheel that I don't know about. Do they?

I have been reading another Thread (over a hundred posts) and there is considerable discussion about both a "gatevalve modification" that makes it easier to control the skimming rate (replaces the riser tube), and a "recirculation modification" that adds another needle wheel pump to take the skimmer body, chop it up (with air) even more and return it to the skimmer. Here is a more recent thread that talks about the recirculation modification:

Equivalence?

Equivalence?

Ok, there's a guy who DIY-ed a ER type skimmer, BUT:
it is a rectangular shape. 9"x9"x23" and runs a Sedra 9000 w/needle wheel.

So what is this closest to? By volume capacity of chamber I get closest to an 8-4, which is 36" tall.

But the 8-4 runs 2x5000s.

ASM G-5 is 8.5 diameter and 36" but runs 1 or 2 9000s ?!?

Wondering how I should evaluate the equivalence. By looks it works exactly the same and is efficient. Thinking of buying it...

There used to be an ER vendor forum where they had pusted in another thread the volumes/capacities, etc of all these models. Where did ER go???

I just got a call from Jeff today, My skimmer is shipping out tomorrow. I cant wait!!! Here are the pics of it running in his Office.

Well I just finished modifying my CS6-1 to a RC, without the gate valve and the slip unions. Mine sits in-sump and doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t need leak proof connections at the pump. I managed to drill the first hole using a 1-Ã"šÃ‚¼Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ hole saw without incident, but on the second one the mandrel bit grabbed and cracked it in two directions. Most of the cracks came out with the 1-Ã"šÃ‚¼Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ plug and would have been covered by the new Uniseal, had it not been so darn tight to get the Ã"šÃ‚¾Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ pvc into. Now there are two cracks above and below where the new feed pump goes about Ã"šÃ‚½Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ in length each. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m hoping that they stay that way and donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get any longer.

I kept the Sedra3500 output where it was originally in the skimmer body with the pump sitting horizontally. The white PVC fittings are for the new connections; the return pump is an Eheim Compact 1000 rated at 265GPH.

Sorry about the bad pictures and the dirty glass. Does anyone elseââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s sump get this many tiny crustaceans on the glass? My knuckles are bleeding after working in there today.
125gal 30gal sump.

WOW. Less than a week into it and my ER has already started to produce. This is what it has collected in just one day.

It's still a little wet so I need to dial it in more, but man what a producer.

NRA4EVR, that looks awsome! I have an 8-2RC with the beta pumps on order. I can't wait to hear from them. BTW, I'm jealous. Jim

I cleaned the ES5-3 last night. When I took out the impellar wheel assembly I noticed that the magnet was all grooved, but only on half of it. If you could imagine slicing it in half the long way one side was all grooved and the othe was perfectly smooth. Is this normal? Or how could this even have happened?

Thanks,
CaptK

CaptK something got sucked in here and ground the impeller. Snail shell? Once I had some carbon pellets spill out of the mesh bag into the sump and it ground my Mag7 impeller pretty good. Just about anything solid that gets sucked in can do damage.

Nobody with ideas on my ?s???

Hmmm. Go away for a bit and look what happens!

Wish they could have closed the forum and kept the old threads. Was valuable info in there. Like the answers to my questions above.

Maybe someone will have an idea.

You can still get to the old forum, but there's not a quick link to it. Just search for a thread (maybe one you'd subscribed to in your "My RC" section). Once you find it, you can then click the link to the ER forum. There you go.

And I really hope that I don't get in trouble with the Mods or ER for posting this either ....
