I still can't get it.. the bubbles go right to the top and blow over. My cup is full within 5 minuts. I have the output tube all the way down. What else can I do? My salt is at 1.026 wich worked find with my AquaC 150.....

Would Kent PhytoPlex - Phytoplankton cause problems?

I think for the next week I'll just feed flakes until things settle down...

Thanks again!
Walter

Yes, ran it with hot water for 1/2 hr. Seems to have settled out again... I'll watch it over the next week...

I was just looking at some pictures on your website. On big thing I noticed is your output tube is much shorter than mine. When I drop mine all the way down it is still above the joint at the top of the main chamber, yours look about 2" lower. Might explain why my skimmer keeps overflowing?

Thanks, Walter

I've narrowed the problem down to a new RO/DI I've been using. Last night I was getting some top off water that I store in a barrel. I noticed it was a bit murky and a bit slimy. I dumped the water into the sump and the skimmer started overflowing again. This morning I used some bottle water that we had, skimmer actually got a bit better and settled down a bit. Now i Just have to find out why the RO/DI is causing it to go nuts. I think the first thing I'll try is tapping off the RO and not use DI to see if that's it. When I first set the unit up I ran it for about 1/2 hr to clean it out. I then made 35g or so of fresh water. I dumped what I had left from that last night, made about 15g of new water, but it is has that murky look to it...

Walter

whaase - you are supposed to run a NEW unit for a certain amount of time...not sure how long it is but htere is some sort of antibacterial or something on or in the membrane i believe

run more through it...and NOT through the DI and throw it out. it shouldn't be murky. is it something in your tub?

Lunchbucket

I'll play with it tonight. I would have thought 50g would be more than enough? I suppose it could be something in the tub.. at this point I would not rule out anything! :D I'll rinse/clean and run the RO water for awile and see.

Thanks for the help!

Walter

Okay, I posted a while back about my 6-1 not skimming. I went in and removed some flash plastic from the venturi hole and thought that would do it. A couple of weeks later and I have seen no change... or skimmate. I have no idea what's wrong.

Maybe I'll try to fire off an email to the EuroReef guys themselves and see what I can find out. Do most people have better luck emailing h2otropicals or euro-reef?

Don't bother emailing Euro-reef, try h2otropicals. While Euro-reef may make great skimmers, their customer support is virtually non-existent. The exact quote I received from Jeff at Euro-reef was "we as a manufacturer are not supposed to be supporting the end user". Not exactly what I wanted to hear after dropping a thousand dollars on a CS8-4 RC.

Did he really say that?!?! Hell I would be pretty ****ed off if he said anything like that. I'm glad I went with ASM then, at least then I knew I wasn't going to get any customer support. I've always justified the ER being a little more than the ASM because they were built better and they had customer support. I guess I was wrong.

If you're speaking of the pics on my site... my riser tube is only set at the first joint. If I were to raise it to the second(or any higher for that matter), there would be wetter production for each bit of raise I put on the height of the tube. IMO, lower your tube to the first joint and adjust from there.
