Hey Euro-reef members...

Haven't posted here in many months. I have a CS6-2+.

Just a little tip for new owners of this great skimmer. Yes, I too, encountered problems w/my skimmer over flowing the cup for the reasons previously mentioned. This sucks when it happens.

Here's a fool proof solution. Attach a needle air-valve to your venturi line. This will allow you to fine tune bubble size. Furthermore, should your skimmer go crazy and overflow, use your needle valve to shut off air supply completely. This will immediately stop over flowing your cup. Then slowly open the air valve and adjust to the desired level. It will start producing skimmate soon. Before I did this, I would have to wait 1-3 days before it settled down!

Now, problems solve. Hope this helps.

Jamie

Of course, you need to empty and clean cup once it has overflowed.

I'm considering the Euro for my skimmer for my 240....It will be moderately to heavily stocked....sump will be 125gallon sump and fuge will be another 125 gallons. Any suggestions as to what size skimmer to start looking at?

Question ~ when you have a power outage does your sedra pumps start back up Or do you have to pull it apart to get it going again (like I do ) ?

should start right away once power is restored. You have a faulty pump.

Why would you turn off your skimmer?

So that while I'm emptying the cup the skimmate won't overflow the neck. I also like to give the neck a quick cleaning with on of those ER brushed that looks like a small toilet brush.

Dave...

Misread your earlier post. I,too, turn off skimmer before I remove cup.

My earlier post is intended to provide a solution for when the skimmer goes "crazy". The needle valve connected to venturi allows you to instantly solve the overflow problem. No need to wait hours, days, for it to settle down. Restricting the airflow will do the trick and you can resume skimming immediately.

oh, i guess i forgot to say. it is working fine now. I added an airvalve and kept opening more when needed then removed it all together. thanks for the help :).

Hey guys I'm looking for detailed plans to modify my skimmer (es8-2) into a RC model. Can you guys post some links if you know of any?

Thanks,

phish
