cgh38,

I'd think you can modify it to re-circulate and take in raw water directly from the overflow. You can also upgrade the pump to a Sedra 5000 NW or Ocean Runner 2700 NW

cgh38 - couldn't you just use a sedra 5000 and make that skimmer a 6-2+??? isn't that the only difference between teh 6-2 and 6-2+ a sedra 5000??

Thanks guys,
Lunchbucket, actually yes the C+ comes with the 5000 but I have limited space on my sump. I wonder if I still could get the 5000 and do some plumbing in order to fit it in there?

Premium Aquatics.. but theyr'e out of stock. I tried doing a search but most of the stores carry the pump only.

i would do like jim said and try h2o tropicals. i'm guessing since you have a ER that you can get the pump pretty easily

KC how are the mods to your 12-2 working out?

I have the 12-1 and plan on drilling out the venturi soon. And can see how that will impact the skimmer right away.

I also planned on doing a half RC mod(just one of the pumps will be RC, since 1 to 1.5 is recommended, and I will have 300 total volume, then 500gph would be close enough). Since your a couple of months ahead of me, I was hoping to get feed back from you. Of all the mods that you have done, would you do them all again and would you change anything?

Euro-reef CS,ES and RS

Euro-reef CS,ES and RS

Can someone tell what is I am new to Euro-reef what is the differance between CS,ES,RS, and CSRC models?

CS = Cast Acrylic Skimmer
ES = Extruded Acrylic Skimmer
RS = Recirculating Skimmer
CSRS = Cast Acrylic Recirculating Skimmer

i haven't got a chance to test it at all and most likely wont, i went today to have the staples removed from having spin surgery last Sunday, i've been instructed since this was my second surgery of this type that i may want to give great thought to any lifting of anything of any weight over a few lbs from now on. with my 180g tank sitting empty currently and weighing in at 350 lbs dry weight i may not be getting the opportunity to set it back up and may end up taking down the other systems and getting rid of it all :(

I might be wrong, but wasn't the RS just the retail store (LFS) model of the ES which was the online version?

Because the recirculating model was the CSxx-x-RC

But those are the old terms, the new models have different codes, IMO ones that make more sense

No, the RS replaced the ES and I know for sure the ES was only sold in retail stores with the exception of the 5 series. The CS was sold online.

Sorry to hear about that.... that sucks. Hopefully your back will get better. I had a very minor (compared to what yours sounds like) back injury and can really feel for you. Is there a local club that could help you down there?

This is how the ER site list them: http://www.euro-reef.com/products-skimmerstechspec.shtml

RS= Made with cell cast acrylic tube and glued to 1/4" cast acrylic sheet material.

CS/RC*= Made with cell cast acrylic tube and hot air welded to 3/8* thick PVC sheet material.

*RC= Euro-Reef CS Series "RC" Re-Circulating Protein Skimmers

Euro-Reef's Recirculating skimmers can handle larger bio-loads depending on the flow through rates. Slower flow through rates offer longer dwell times and higher "per pass" extraction levels. For RC models we recommend a flow through rate of 1 to 1.5 x the total system volume per hour. Ratings for these skimmers are offered as a "Base +" rather than one "Ideal" aquarium size.

ALL SKIMMERS SHIP WITH HEAVILY MODIFIED EURO-REEF PUMPS!

SP2 = SEDRA KSP3500

SP3 = SEDRA KSP5000

SP4 = GEN-X 4100

SP5= GEN-X 6000

thanks all for your help on that .
