thanks rklutt I can not be there looking too.

As I said before can someone tell me I am looking a a Euro-Reef CS-6 Series Protein Skimmer picture how I guess turning lock ring thats gray is that how to take off the cup?
And do the cups have a fitting for a drain hose?

The pumps I see a Sedra 3500 and a Euro-Reef SP2 what is the differance someone said one is modified and why is one better?

From what I have read about the Euro Reef pump vs the stock Sedar is that ER replaces the impeller with there own design with a bunch of little pins to create a whipping action that effectively shreds the air into tiny little bubbles.

As for the locking ring on the neck I am not sure since I have not yet gotten my ER! It is due in tomorrow and I can't wait to get it home and in the sump!

Rob

PS can I gate valve my CS5-3? If so I am more of a DIY person so what size gate valve do I need to get? 1 1/4" 1 1/2"....

fishtk75 - you disconnect the cup w/ a union. just like the ones you use to plumb stuff on your tank but bigger. very nice and need zero clearance to take off

no they don't have drain fittings in the cups..but i think you can get them in there. i would NOT put one in. it is better to take the cup off and clean it then let it dump into a seperate container.

the sp2 is a sedra 3500 but i ti is modified by ER...it's their secret on how they mod them. i'm heard they do quite a bit.

supernerd - yeah that includes the pump

thank you for your help on that the man from H2O Tropicals called me when I order mine yesterday for call back and I asked him that and like you said it is a 1/4 turn union ring and they don't have drain fittings in the cups put he said you can do that yourself put I will not as you said clean whole thing when full.

I e-mailed H2O tropicals put did not get a reply for weeks.
Is there someone else you where talking about?
Or is there someone here on RC that can answer questions faster on Euro-Reef products?

YEEEEE HAAAWWW! I am now in the ER club! I got my CS5-3 yesterday and as soon as I got home I rippped the crappy Berlin Classic out of my sump and put in the ER and wham bam thank you ma'am! I was off to skimming. In about 3 hr's I had a killer foam going with a ton of green goo spilling into my collection cup!

And this morning I had a nice 1/4 cup full of green goo and the thing was still bubbling like a mad dog! Man all I can say is this thing kills the Berlin I had and I will never look back! Next thing I have to do is figure out what to do with my Berlin paper weight... Lamp? Bong? Water Rocket? Throw it in a fire? I sure would hate to sell it to a poor unsuspecting reefer... :smokin:

PS Next step is to add the gate valve!

A description for my euroreef I have for sale

CS 6-1 for sale two cups, 2 pumps, gateway mod

Assuming you know Euroreefs then you know the basics about a CS 6-1. I put it in to service around March of 2004; took it out of service before the end of 2004. The first Cup got a hairline crack - never leaked but they sent me a new one anyway. Even though I realized maybe I used too hot of water on it - which I told them but they sent a new cup free anyway. I was going to install a drain in the spare but never got around to it. when I first got it I was dissappointed with the hum of the sedra 3500 and they sent me a new one which was about the same noise level but got quieter after running for a week or so which sometimes is the case with new motors - so I assume the original which I still have is the same but has only run for a couple of days. I also have the gate mod which you can learn and research on euroreefs threads. $250 excluding shipping I think is a fair price. I always thought it skimmed nicely but got a larger recirculating skimmer anticipating that I was going to a larger tank. Does this help? Ask any questions.

I would like to say I am a happy camper since I got my ER yesterday! It's a killer product and worked wonders right out of the box! Craftsman ship is awesome... even though it is suppose to be a "blem" (I couldn't find anything wronge with it). It was easy as pie to dial in and was pulling out green goo in no time. Since I was useing an inferior product before I can now understand why people are so happy with your skimmer. THEY ARE AWESOME! I am sure glad I didn't go for the knock-off ASM.

Thanks and happy reef-in

To the owners of the ER CS6-2+ (with the Sedra 5000), does your skimmer have the microbubbles all the way at the bottom of the skimmer by the outlet?
Thanks.
