Euroreef gate valve mod?

Hmmm...after having propulsion engineering training and such I was always taught that gate valves were for stopping and starting flow whereas globe and ball valves were for stopping, starting and throttling. I believe throttling doesn't fair too well with gates due to the fact the flow dead ends at the gate and has to work around it whereas a globe it flows around the stoppage (it is a smoother transition and it allows for this)...am i correct here?

I practical application with aquarium related items that need minute changes in flow to obtain optimal performance gate valves work much better. They are just easier to adjust by a very small amount. IME it's really hard to get a ball valve EXACTLY where you want it. Not so with a gate valve:)

True about the ball valves...imo, globe valves are better at fine adjustments but they aren't readily available...

You will find that over time, that ball valve will get harder and harder to adjust... that is why it is called a gate valve mod... Gate valves do not get stuck with calcium build up as easily as ball valves..
