Evaporation Question?

I have a 140 gal cube and then about 50 more gallons in the sump and refugium. It seems as though I am putting 6 or 7 gallons in a week. Is this too much or am I loosing water some where?

Is there a calculator some where to figure out water evaporation?

Thanks
B.

Doesn't seem strange to me...I have a 120 with about 35 gal sump and I am replacing at least that much water a week due to evap, if not more.

Water evaporation is based on lighting intensity, ambient room temperature, tank temperature, how much water surface is exposed to air (glass canopy/wood canopy/no canopy/open sump), number of fans blowing near the exposed surfaces, amount of water agitation at the surface... ..In other words..it'd be a calculator from hell!

...and 6 or 7 gallons a week sounds fine to me. :)

I go threw a gallon a day on my 55 gallon tank... I always top-off everynight before shutting the lights off...

I go through 5 gallons every 4 days on my 100 and thats after adding a 1/4 HP chiller. It was 6 gallons every other day with just fans.

time for an auto top off folks :P

i dont even know how much i top off a day. but usualy i hear my top off click on 4 times for about 10 seconds
so imguessing less then aggon a day on my 130 with 20 sump and 50 fuge ( note i use vho not MH and the water dosnt get that warm)
