EVC MH bulb warrantee?

Reef Bass

Does anyone know if EVC MH bulbs come with a warrantee? I searched reefscience.com and didn't find any statements about it.

One of my 4 month old bulbs didn't fire up today. I swapped bulbs between my two fixtures and the same bulb didn't fire in the other reflector, and the one which did fire also fired in the dead bulb's original reflector. I swapped out the dead bulb and replaced it with a worn bulb (which had been replaced with the EVC) and it fired right away. So it seems my reflectors and dual magnetic ballast are working properly.

I understand that occasionally an individual item my fail prematurely from a manufacturer of generally long lasting quality items. However, this being my first experience with EVC, and having the bulb fail after only 4 months of use, concerns me. I have neither the desire nor financial resources to be replacing MH bulbs every 4 months.

I think you should contact "smariner" he posted in my EVC vs Radium thread. He might be able to do something for ya. One of my EVC broke after 3 months too, but I didn't deal with it, I think it is too late for me to do anything about it at this point, but your might want to give it a try.

EVC and Helios are supposed to be the same bulb. I tried a pair once....two different colors, got a third still different than the first. Those were the DE versions

Tried the SE's when I changed to them.....being the understandable person I am, tried again......two different colors.

I think they have a problem with QC on the Helios.....and the EVC and supposed to be the same....

they have both milked this fishkid dry.

I have been using EVC 250W DE for about 8 months now. They have worked well for me. I may try a different bulb soon as I don't feel I am getting the best color from my corals.

Thanks for your input Dots and Owen. I've been pleased with the performance of the EVC bulbs in terms of par and color. My tank looks a bit odd now with one XM bulb and one EVC. The used XM appears whiter or brighter but I know my corals experienced increased par when I first installed the EVCs. And my corals colored up even more then. :D

Sorry I don't know about any EVC warranty. I would only purchase bulbs from companies who have a warranty. I know of one that has a 30 day replacement followed by 12 month pro rated. This is for MH and fluorescent tubes. PM me if you can't get a replacement.
