Ever heard of a mini BTA?

Local reefer is selling a mini-BTA, anyone ever heard of one of this? He said it gets about the size of a quarter and then splits. Anyone have any pics or experience with one of these?

Are they just like regular size BTA's ?

Sounds like Mojanos(sp?) to me. Are they green?
I love them and had one but lost it in my move.
They are really cute and do not multiply fast.
 
If it looks like this it is a tulip anemone, they spread like crazy in the tank.
I have around 50 in my 75g.

ezhoops, i think they do exist! A local reefer has some in his tanks (i posted a topic under hte heading tiny BTAs) and they grow to an inch or two then split. Theyre not majanos or any otehr form of pest anemone, very sure theyre entacmaea quadricolor.

I was wondering if theyd host clowns if clumped together on a rock (like a giant anemone), let me know if you try it.

Yes they are. They will not hurt the clownfish at all. Please note that clowns may or may not host these little guys. It truely depends on how many their are. There are no known issues. These guys can be kept under any amount of light, low, med or high.

Sounds like you have a tank full of anemones. I used to have a tank like that. 2 RBTAS, 2 Regular BTAS, 1 H. Crispa and 1 H. Magnifica. Was doing fine until a hurricane decided to knock out power for a week or so. Crashed the tank and everything died except my clowns.
 
Do you guys understand how small these things are ? How can a clown host in something smaller than a dime ? My clown fish pays no mind to the tulips in my tank ...they are way too small.
 
If there are 10-15 of them in a 12 gallon tank I see no reason why a clownfish could not wiggle around in these. Do you see a problem with this? I see where you are coming from but ten dimes next to each other is much bigger.

The clown won't host in them.
Even if you had 20 tulips they would disperse through the tank. You would have small clusters but no way 20 would stay in one place together.

I have them and I have never had a clown even look at them.
They are great little anemones, very pretty but not a clown host.
 
Not that I'm trying to be a wet blanket, but did you notice his auction - Buy 1, Get 3 Free? I would think very carefully about getting these - it certainly sounds like they've reached plague proportions in the seller's tank!

yeah, you should be careful where you plan on putting them but if its a tank dedicated to them then you should be ok.
 
hehe...they are definitely not small E. quadricolor, BTA's, but they are pretty interesting in nano's. I hope they are are of a different original source then some of my existing ones...but what the heck :>)

fwiw: RC member Guy, has a picture of a baby clown hosting in one.
