EvolutionZ's Floating Reef

I'll second what my mate Sahin said but without the pommie accent..... :p

All the extra effort to construct a unique rock scape will pay handsome dividends once you start throwing stiks at it, look forward to lots more updates mate

Updates:

Starting to fill up with DI!

almost done..

sump

I actually used about 70% of the water from the blue tub (from the first picture), and the rest are using new DI water with Skizm Pur reef salt. Dumped 40lb worth of fiji pink salt (loving the grain size but not the amount of pink it has!) and now awaiting for the water to clear.

The amazingly quiet overflow. Great for surface skimming too

Here's what the skimmer has been pulling out after 1 hour of break-in! i believe its the cloudy water caused by the live sand!

Will be dosing prodibio Biodigest 1 vial/day for the next 14 days.

Thanks for viewing!

Well that is outstanding work and I am so looking forward to seeing this tank progress. Your rock work is amazing and maybe I missed it but what was the curing time on the rock bond epoxy? Also did you rinse the rock work before adding it to the tank? The reason I ask is I have a few maricultured pieces that I want to glue down and I want to make sure that this stuff is reef safe. I wish you all the best and congrats on a beautiful display.
Michael

Update:

Tanks has cleared and has transferred corals and my 3 fishes into this tank yesterday night, Midas Blenny was seen eating pellets moments ago. Also dumped cured live rocks (from my previous tank, in the tub) into sump to help cycling. Been dosing biodigest daily.

loving the grains of this sand.

Thanks! they were actually done over 4 days. Each time i expoxy certain sections, i give them 24 hours to cure. I did not rinse the rocks before adding and i used reef safe epoxy to fix the rocks.

This looks sick! Love it. My only critique, and please only take this as CC, is I wish the tank was a few inches taller or the structure a couple inches closer to the sand. Visualizing all those beautiful sticks a top that rock will make it seem top heavy? Phenomenal work on the structure though. Best if luck!

Thanks man! I actually made the tank 18" tall and custom made the cabinet height, to suit my height so that i can still view the tank from top! i love top view tank and yet i want to have a taller tank (compared to my old tank at 14"). So i went for this height.

This is a great aquascape evo:thumbsup:
Can't wait to see it filled with sticks:fun4:

Thanks! i cant wait to collect my sps back from my buddy's tank too!

Can I ask what type of snails you have there?

Those are nassurius snails from the blue tub. They are activated by robots once they detects food:spin2:

Update:

Bought 2 packs of live copepods to seed the tank. Turns out to be too much and fishes were having a great meal!

Day 9 of set up, 9 vials of Biodigest had went in at 1 vial/day. Rocks are almost covered in brown algae.

Nice so far I would have added the copapods when the lights went out. They will still multiply in time and your tank is looking reLly nice. I like the lighting as well looks so natural to me.

I also add Biodigest and also add Bioptim as well to feed it.
Hope this helps
