Evo's 26.2 Gallon – Custom Rimless

Well last Friday my Bi Color Blenny went postal :headwallblue: !!!! This little m@%*er f#@%er looked straight at me while swimming in the current of the MP 10, then the SOB turned around and started nipping on my Jason Fox Psammacora, I also noticed that my Hologram Monti and Confused Rainbow-Reverse Sunset Monti did not have any polyp extension as I can only assume that the Blenny had nipped at them too. Right about this time I had a shish kabobs stick and I was ready to spear this B@st@rd :headwalls: !!! But luckily I had a spare 20 gallon tote and removed 2 pieces of my Vida Rock in order to remove the Bi color Blenny. Man - so glad I had bought the Vida rock, as it only took my 10 minutes to remove the Blenny, but if this was live rock it probably would of took me forever to create my scape again. Anyway the Bad @$$ Blenny was banished to the sump - at least for now !!!

Ive heard of these guys doing that, glad you got him out so easy

Thanks Brett - but never realized that Bi Color Blenny would nip at SPS... I know they like calms.. But I guess they have expense taste nipping at my SPS... But he ate like a horse !!! Everything I threw in the tank he ate - pellets / nori / mysis and a parently SPS ...

Sweet sticks!

Thanks Oscar !!!

Just a little update : I ordered my cleaning crew from Reef Cleaners last Friday - John responded by email stating that he would have my order out on Monday. On Monday I received an email with the tracking information and my order arrived early morning Wednesday - everything was alive and kicking !!! I must say that this is only my second order from Reef Cleaners but each time has been flawless !!!

Those are sweet. Have you started mounting any of the frags from BattleCorals yet?

Thanks Wade - Yes I have mounted 4 frags or actually 3 from Battle Corals and 1 (Jedi Mindtrick) from Brett (Aquaph8). But unfortunately the Hologram Monti doesn't look good at all - I don't think it going to make it just never really recovered from my Bi Color Blenny picking at it. I am hoping to have all the corals mounted in the next 2 weeks just been taking it really slow with them as they are starting to finally color up. All my Arco's have really good PE but my only problem is for some reason I can't get my MAG above 900 right now I had it at 1100 yesterday but that was after adding 15 ml of Kent's M-tech and this morning I check it again and it's still at 900. So I am a little stumped right now "“ to say the least!!!

I have been also dosing Brightwells A/B - 5 ml of each every night to maintain the parameters below

Here are my current Parameters since 9:00 am this morning:
Temp 79.5 "“ 79.8 daily
PH 8
ALK 7-7.5 never rises above that I think from the Microbacter 7 though.
CAL "“ 400
MG 900

Anybody have any suggestions ???

Where are you trying to get with your mag Jose? I don't think your dosing near enough product. According to the calculator I used you should be dosing in the hundreds of ML.
Check out this calculator and enter your info and product being used.

Brett - thanks for the link...So I punched in the numbers mg 900 to 1300... But holly smokes the calculator suggest to add 757.1 ml; 25.6 fl oz; 151.4 tsp - that just seems a whole lot since I have a Nano tank of 26 gallons in my DT and about 10 gallons in the sump so about 36 gallons total. I have been adding about 15 ml which is about 274.50 PPM daily since yesterday but I know to take it slow as the calculator states:

"WARNING: Seems that there could be two concentrations of this product, check the instructions in the bottle. If it mentions 1 ml per gallon will rise MG by 39.1 ppm USE HALF of the calculated dose and test again after 24 Hrs. Shake vigorously immediately before use. Do not dose all at once. Although it may be ok to do so, I don't recommend it. Dose 1/3 to 1/2 and the next day test. Check your levels and then dose another portion. Limit the increase to a Max. of 100 ppm/Day".

I guess I am just wondering what in hell is eating / consuming all the MG ??? It just seem like every time I dose the MG it’s all gone by or before the morning ??? I did not think SPS like MG that much - as I know the MG helps stabilize the CAL and AK .

I'd enter the info to raise it 50ppm and add that amount twice a day until you get it up where you want.

Nice do you have a FTS? I mounted the Red Planet and Slimer I got from Brett. They have really good PE and are showing growth. My parameters seem good but that SSC I got from Brett at the swap allready bit the dust. Came downstairs yesterday morning and it was a bleached skeleton... :( It was pretty beat up by the time I got it in my tank...

Wade - No FTS yet ... But as soon as I mount all the SPS Frags I'll update with a FTS !!! Sorry to hear about the SSC coral !!! What did you dip it with ??? Also, just a FYI but I usually float the bag or tupperware for about 15-20 mins in order to try and acclimate the bag or tupperware to the tank's water temp as sometimes the water temp in the bag / tupperware drops a lot - which can stress the coral out... then I usually drip the coral for 45 mins and then finally dip them for 10 mins then rinse the dip off with tank water in a small pint painters bucket from Lowes or HD... So far this method has been working for me .

I did not float it but did a 2 hour drip 3-4 drops/sec. Then I did 8min in Coral RX, Rinse, 8min Revive, rinse. But it looked rough by the time I got home. A couple coralites were broken off... On another note, the Bonsai is doing AMAZING, great PE. I look forward to seeing the FTS.

Oh - I see.. On a side note I don't really like coral rx as it is really harsh on corals. I found it tends to cause bleaching and stressing out the corals.. I do like revive as it seem to work and is not as harsh and doesn't cause the bleaching !! But I have been using bayer advance complete instinct killer - big thanks to Oscarslr !!! Here is a link for the proof on RC that this works and it is cost effective as you get a big bottle for 12.99 and it will last forever !!! Also, I have been only using 6 ml of the bayer in 1 liter of tank water for 10 mins and then rinse them twice before the frag(s) go into my tank ...

It's been a while since I've had time to update my thread... This Summer in AZ was pretty intense on my little tank with massive PH swings due to the closed windows and A/C on so I decide to run CO2 media from two little fishes CDX. I started this product back in late August my PH went from high point in the day 7.89 and at night below 7.6 but within a couple of days my PH stabilized at a solid 8.2 during the day and 8.18 at night. As of right now I have the same media in and am at 8.18 day and 8.16 a night. But it does goes as high as 8.25 when I have my back sliding door open. Can really complain about the product it does seem to work.
