i wish i had the ocean in my backyard.. i like how theres a variety of clowns in there

I missed some of post replies here, sorry.

Sac town is not very far from the ocean, and the Delta are are nice. Mine sons have house boats up there.
The clowns are very nice, and it helps to have a lot of anemones in there. They all have their own areas to defend.

Thank you.

I don't have stock list and the tank is getting full, but I always have room for one more.:)

It is an hobby got out of control, I kept thinking that I'll wake up tomorrow and be tired of it and quit. There were challenges along the way, like ruptured sump, Alk and CA drooped while we were gone because a care taker turned off both CA reactors. As the result, I lost several prize anemone and acropora.
Yes, when things are good it is very rewarding.
I am beginning to see second and third generations of corals and anemone growing in the tank.

i am just getting started 2 years 5 aquariums later and my parents and my best freind made a bet with my girlfriend that i would have no fish in 5 years.. hahaha easy bet they better be ready to pay up ;)

really the stocklist i care about is the clowns and anems and what clowns host what anems and is there any sharing beetween species?

THANK YOU for sharing

I have 14 anemone fish and most have their own anemone and areas except the largest blue strip(Chrysopterus?). She thinks she has rights to every anemone in the tank! I will get a picture of her tomorrow, her long tail looks like A.Omansis and of those large male naso/Soho tank. May be an expert can tell me what she is. Here is not a very good picture of her:
anemones013.jpg

I have Sitichoductyla sp., H. magnifica, E. quadricolor/RBTA, Tapeatum mini anemone, and several others that I don't know what they are.

The A. ocellaris and A. percula stay in the S. gigantea, S. haddoni, and some time the cheato neon orange RBTA. They have shared H. magnifica with the pink skunks before. I think there is a pic in mine photobucket, here you go:
2007tankpics021.jpg

The gold strip maroon pairs stay mostly in different RBTA,BTA's. A group of clarkii stays in the S. mertensii. The other anemonefish of Clarkii complex and A. polymus pair stay mostly in different S. haddoni.

I think that is it.

fantastic thanks for telling me, do the percs and ocellaris leave the magnifica? do they chase eachother?

You welcome.
Wow, 5 aquariums in 2 years. You have the potential to spent your children and grand-children's inheritance and be an addict like me, and may be more:)

No, they do not. The pair is made of 1 percula and 1 ocellaris, and there is a single ocellaris that was the husband of the percula from time to times. For the past few months, he has been by himself. They are peaceful fish.

my new idea for my next tank is a 200g with a group of percs i have a pair of rodonyx that i plan on being the dominant pair then 3 to 5 juvies to go in with them hoping to start a family

i plan on providing a gigantea or two and a haddoni that i have now

any thought
think i can get it to work?

If your keep all the clowns in a small container for a day or two, then add all of them in to the tank at the same time you may be ok. But, it may depended on the clowns, though.
For a 200g tank, 4-5 anemonefish should be ok, I think.
The smaller ones would always be easy target and the big ones will fight the bigger ones, too.

Any way, love to see your new set up.

wow!! do you ever go swimming in it?

David dives once or twice a week to clean the tank and maintenance works. I get in the tank may be every week when I am home, for coral and anemone placement....

It is not big enough to swim too hard because corals may get knock over. We kind of glide on the surface to get to where we wanted to go, then we dive down gingerly. Can't do laps:)

How much would a set up even begin to cost. The skimmer is probally more than all my setups combined.

Very nice

There are many ways that one could DIY for much less. For some old lady like me that don't do plumbing, don't know much about electricity, no sense of fluids dynamic, can't even use a Dremal, ...... It cost more.:)

Most reefers spent less money on their tanks as I did for mine, but they enjoy the hobby as much as I do. Some, may be much more.

Nursing homes allow reef tanks in rooms?:)

LOL :D

If they don't I'm sure I can arrange for them to build a separate wing just for you and the tank.
