"Exotic Coral" 3600g Personal Aquarium

Thanks. I will have 4 - 6 x 6301 wave boxes...

Things are going fine for my reef and I am in the planning stages for a new tank. I am looking at alternative materials and flow generation. based on Roger's calculations I am looking at having the capability to generate about 80,000 gph but will "de-tune" the wave boxes so that I do not make waves but have very efficient flow.

It will be months before I can even start construction as I have a lot of research to complete and need some engineer help etc. I don't really care about waves to be honest, but I want to build a tank that can produce them anyway. Currently I am researching carbon fiber/kevlar blends and how to autoclave such a large object.

Shutiny , I must say that you really have a masterpiece on your hands, congratulations and thnx for sharing.
Please forgive me for answering jnarowe post here but I thought it might be appropriate.
A company in Australia called ATL fabricates Kevlar "Jigsaw pieces" of Kevlar for Boats. They are made to design and upon receipt they are "Welded" together. These are for even very large high performane craft. It is cost effective.
This may be a solution to your objective.
Goodluck

Thanks Bax and tbittner, I needed some encouragement. It is a reef in progress, though it has been a struggle lately. I think mix reef is much harder to accomplish than a specie oriented tank.

Ah, GSM. I am no ones hero here, but thanks for the nice comments.

Not a problem crazzy, and its good for me to know as well.
Thanks for your kind words. Over the years, I have seen so many beautiful reef tanks and I think my tanks got some ways to go yet.

ive only seen one other reef tank bigger than this one, and it was at the academy of science in sanfrancisco.

what a major feat for a home reef. you've done a wonderful job shu tin. i wish i still lived out in california i would ask to come visit ;) .

Thanks, I tried my best, but it has not been easy at times.
I've been waiting for Steinbeck to open, and there have been so much talks about it.

GSM, you are so funny:) The worse bites were from the ritteris, though Stichodactyla sp. are more sticky. Ritteris actually cause cell lysisi at the point of contact. May be I am more allergic to ritteris, the bites I have from them on my fingers and legs had caused tissue necrosis and though the bite sites have healed, a lot of tissue loss at the affected area:(
I'll take some whole tank shots later, but the glare is hard to over come due to out door situations. In addition to dust and bugs.... there is this glare during the day time hours.

stienbeck or stienhart? i had tried to go to stienhart when i was in S.F. a couple of weeks ago, but it was closed down untill they get the new academy of science up and running in goldengate park. its supposed to re-open in september. unfortunatly im not going to be back in CA untill at least march '09... :(

I have not been there in over a decade. I grew up on the Peninsula and used to hit all the museums etc. at least once per year. I miss SF! :(

by the time they really have it looking good will probably be after march anyway, so don't worry. in reef time ten months is not that long.
