expediting ttm sterilization

Hello all,

I am tomorrow will be my 3rd transfer. At noon on Thursday, I put the fish into sterilized 10 gallon tank. I got called into work early morning yesterday when my plan was to break 2nd transfer tank down, sterilize, and let air dry.

I got home late last night, emptied tank that needed sterilization, filled with tap, used about 2 cups of bleach and let it sit over night. This morning I emptied bleach water out, rinsed half dozen times, and have been letting it air dry.

I have also been using a hair dryer to help air dry, my question is, if I get it complete air dry with blow dryer, would it be ready to go for tomorrow morning, or should I just use a rubber maid as a tank?

Just use a Rubbermaid. It's not worth the stress considering big the work being put into proper QT.

If everything is completely dry I would use it without hesitation.

I would use the Rubbermaid if it's not entirely dry. If I'm running behind on getting equipment cleaned, which means needing a rushed drying time, I usually setup a fan on the tank and whatever else to help it dry faster.

I just run it through got water 150 degrees should kill anything I'd you wash it for a few minutes.

Honestly you could have probably skipped having it sit in bleach overnight. Desiccation alone is enough, but a quick wash in bleach would add enough of a safety layer IMO. But, it really all depends on your own specific risk tolerance.

I keep all the haters and pvc tubes in w bucket with bleach. Then i just wash the tanks and soap let air dry. Wash and rinse in hot water for a few minutes where it burns when you touch the glass should kill them ich.

Thanks for all your input. I did the transfer around 11 am this morning.

The heater and pump sat in bleach over night Friday, went into the dishwasher for an hour cycle, and then air dried for the remaining 8 hours I had left.

The tank I decided to not use, and opted to use a 5 gallon bucket instead. Being I couldn't put it through the dishwasher, I figure to use the bucket, and give the tank 3 days to dry now for my last transfer.

If ich can survive the bleach, then the high temp of a dishwasher, then it deserves to survive IMO

You have nothing to worry about. The first year or so I did TTM, all I did was wipe out the tank with a paper towel and let air dry until 12 hrs before the next transfer or so.
