Experience with Nikon AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED Lens??

its great if you already have a 105mm or similar focal length.

The 60mm is awesome for top downs where you dont have a lot of working area.

I have a 105 lens, but it's not a macro lens. This would be my 1st macro lens. I want some for extreme closeups and I wanted to make sure this one did the trick.

you would be far better getting something in the 100mm range.

The Nikon 105 VR Macro lens is amazing. If thats too steep, check out the Tamron 90mm macro.

Just be sure to check the specs of any lens for a ratio of 1:1, thats how you know if its a true macro lens.

the term macro is used very loosely with Nikon and others.

I was looking at the 105mm macro lens as well. 800 is quite steep, but if it's worth it. Know where to get any deals on these lenses?

+1 here for the Nikkor 105 Macro Lens.

I thought about renting it with some other macro lens's but that could be money spent on the new lens itself.

Take the plundge!

It's well worth it, as long as you have a lot corals, insects and such you want to take pictures of.

With the 105mm I can be as far as 8" and still get a great macro shot.

If you think $800 is steep, I bought mine for $1000 a while back...$800 is a steal.

Ive owned the Tamron 90mm, the Sigma 150mm, and the Nikon 105mm....hand down the nikon it tops. Its not even fair comparing the two.

The first time you see it, youll understand. Its a tank.
