I cannot send pics with my current computer. There was actual pieces of flesh around the mouth that were hanging there by a strand. Also his fins looked like something had been biting them off at the ends. There was not another living thing (other than maybe a parasite) in the tank with it.
Too bad about the lack of pic ... makes it alot harder.
Deteriorating flesh is often a bacterial problem .. sometimes combined with a parasite issue. Skin hanging off is sometimes just excess mucus generated by the fish in an attempt to shed off parasites ... this "skin" is usually opaque/white.
No offence intended .. but your current tank is overstocked and too small for some of the species fish your keeping ... this will contribute to stress which lowers fish natural immunity to disease .. will also contribute to water quality issues.
I think QT combined with some antibiotics may be in order ... in the interim take a look at some of the pictures of fish diseases discussed in this thread - might find something that looks similar to the condition your dealing with.
