Fail's SPS 14 Gallon Biocube

Looking good. Now you need to do a few sneaky acts like Biggles and Bello...Since you have a new system, this should be pretty easy to carry out.

hahaha...

quick hint...

Why would a frag tank need a screen...? :spin3:

Jumping acros??? Seriously, guessing flame wrasse or mystery :p

Looks clean Jon  What dwarf angel you thinking of? Going barebottom on this one I guess?

Sahin you know what we're waiting for, don't make me BUMP YOUR THREAD!!!! :p

It's to protect from that sneaky bastard, Kevin... Rofl

I don't think the wrasses would be happy in here.

I am going back to my old ways. Pygmy angels. I love them. Always have. Always will. If I can snag a pair hopefully.

Anyone know about micro bubbles and skimmers? I know it's only been up and running for about an hour, but do they eventually settle?

I'm running a BubbleMagus 3+ based on the reviews. This is my first time diving into the world of sump/skimmers

Pygmy Angels sounds good...very colourful...but would they nip at the SPS polyps?

It should run without much bubbles exiting the skimmer after about 24 hours.

If I clean my Bubble Magus NAC6, then it will cause some microbubbles for a few hours and then go smooth.

wow jon,i didn't wait too long to see it up and running!
I really like how the black color dominates the tank:)

I'm sure we will see some nice things in it!

As for the skimmer, like sahin said,it will normally be ok after a couple of days:thumbsup:

Thank you, guys.

I have it in about 9.5" of water and wide open right now.

I'm hoping the microbubbles clear when the thing breaks in. I'm just being impatient.

As I moved recently, I went by a shop today that I normally don't frequent because of the proximity to my new house. I just went in for water to fill the new tank, as I am too lazy to set up my BRS RODI system. Anyway, I was looking at their beautiful corals (IMO overpriced). I noticed that all their tanks are running T5. I couldn't help but think that maybe this new tank will cause me to start an experiment of T5 vs LEDs.

I have an eyesore of a frag rack in my Cube that I has frags of mostly everything in my tank. I do plan on moving that to the new tank as soon as everything tests to my liking and my levels are stable.

I'm not saying that I am disliking LEDs, but what I am saying is there was a noticeable difference in color between the corals under T5 vs my LED lit tank.

Awesome tank, Jon! I love the biocubes. My first reef tank was also a BC 14. It's amazing what you can do with them!

Keep it up!

Bump. Whats the latest regarding your tank? Some pics? :)

The tank is moving along. I believe the 20 is cycled, I just want to get rid of this lingering bacterial bloom.

The cube is doing fantastic. Things are growing, but I really want to move everything over to the 20...

The 20 being BB I believe is prolonging the bacterial bloom. I don't have any science to prove it, but its what I believe.

Maybe I'll add sand. Maybe I won't. I'm undecided.

Sahin, I'm glad your tank finally has a FTS! Great job buddy. I also hope you are feeling better.

I've been laying low while the new tank gets leveled out. I'll be back soon enough.

If you have enough rocks in the new tank, the bacterial bloom should go away soon. How many lbs of rock did you add?

10 pounds of rubble in the sump. 6 pounds in the display. I will be adding another 6 to the display today.

Another 6 should do the job. I did have a similar sort of issue since I run bare bottom, hence why I asked how much you have.

Happy to read, things are doing well failshed buddy:beer:
Can't wait for pics:thumbsup:

Thanks G. I checked in on yours and saw nothing but good. I hope all is well.

Is my favorite tang doing alright?

Pics will be incoming soon.

I got a bunch of rock added to the new tank. It's that "real reef rock" stuff. It looks alright. I'm just waiting for the bacterial bloom to settle.

My main complaint with that rock is that it isn't very porous. I have rubble in the sump to compensate, but its just a waiting game right now.

Jon i can't tell you how nuch i hate that waiting game:uhoh3:
But like everyone says,it's the key to success.

I'm sure the bacterial bloom will settle soon.

Your favorite tang is doing excellent buddy and thanks you for checking him up:beer:
...that was cheesy on my part...:p

The bacterial bloom has subsided.

The only thing I'm doing now is waiting for algae to start growing. The cycle is done. It has to be. The chaeto I have in the fuge is taking off, but still no algae on the glass.

2 of the trochus snails I threw in expired (probably from lack of food). A 3rd died because it ended up in the drain.

I'm waiting a little longer before I stock anything in the 20.
