Fail's SPS 14 Gallon Biocube

Sounds good Jon, don't rush it, I'm sure it'll be great

Thanks, mate. Things in your tank seem to be going well! Glad the AEFW dips have been working out. Colors looking great, buddy.

As for everything else, I will be trying to get some new photos today of both setups.

I haven't been very active because of stupid adult responsibilities (work). I have still had time for the tanks. Just been waiting for the stupidity in the 20L to finish.

Haven't bought anything new. I have been planning to do something about the bubble algae in the cube. The crabs have done absolutely nothing.

Same thing here failshed buddy!
Never had any luck with crabs and bubble algea, either.
Didn't eat the bubbles...only bursting some of them,in the best scenario.
At the end i used my hands:uzi:

Glad the bacterial blooom subsided:)

Will be waiting for the pics:beer:

Long time no talk guys. Sorry about that... I've been super busy with work.

I have the UV set up (4 LEDs) in the space between blue and white LEDs. I'm sorry I can't provide you a pic right now.

Everything is alright right now.

I'm still battling bubble algae.

The anemones have been defeated.

I overdosed some GFO and pulled it out of the cube. I am not running it in either tank right now. But the corals look to be recovering since removing the GFO.

The 20 is still in progress. I was battling a weird algae/bacteria but seem to have gotten that under control. It is a white/brown sludge and I don't know how it manifested in my tank.

I replaced the sand that I had in the 20 with fresh sand, and still have the sps waiting for transfer.

So so so happy to see you again failshed buddy:beer:

I hope you'll get the problems under control soon!
Bubble algea is annoying but if you have your parameters in check, i think that you can at least, keep her under control.
Did you use the same sand?

Can't wait to read some good news in the next few days/weeks buddy;)

That sand thing was the issue in the new tank. I replaced it and am waiting to sew how it goes. The sps in the 20 are doing alright. Encrusting. I don't have any green or coralline algae growth yet though...

Good to be sorta back. I've been lurking.
The bubble algae is in the cube. The parameters are in check, they are just in hard places to reach so I miss some and it grows back over a month or two.

The same thing happened to me with the CC bag i used. When i siphoned it out and used a different type, things went much better.Maybe i didn't rinse it well.Still have no clue!

Glad to hear the sps look good in the 20:)

I know what you are talking about with the bubble algea failshed:(
Especially some crevices the grow into, are a pita :mad too: :)

bubble algae will not disappear this i know, had a thriving SPS 40g and the better the corals thrived so did the bubble algae. Only solution is finding a tang or other fish to eat them but its difficult when you have a small tank.

Yeah, man. This nano tank blues. That is the struggle of staying small and being somewhat ethical in this hobby.

I would never throw a tang in anything less than a 75... But here I am with 14ish gallons and bubble algae like a crazy.

Such is life.

Hey Jon. How are things going? Hope you are well and the livestock too. We would like to see an update. :)

Sahin buddy! How have you been?

Things are so so right now. The 20 long is running, but some corals are not taking to the tank. No idea what it could be. Some sps stn while others seem to be flourishing.

The cube is doing well. Things are finally recovering from the GFO overdose. But they are not 100%.

The 20 has a pair of red firefish and a pair of high finned gobies with candy pistol.

I lost my tiger pistol in the cube. No idea when... The Randal's and the sixline are fine. I have a pygmy angel waiting to be transfered to the twenty.

Overall, the sps gods have not been super kind, but things are okay.

Well, hope things get better buddy. Sorry about the loss of the pistol. :(

With respect to the 20, new tanks are pretty weird when it comes to corals...just keep on top of the water changes and in time I'm sure it will be alright. If possible, dont move any nice/rare corals over until things are stable.

Thanks buddy. I appreciate the kind words!

Patience is a virtue in this hobby, that's for sure.

Hey man. Happy New Year. How is the upgrade coming along? You've done a disappearing act on us. Have you joined Bello and run off to some remote forest life as well?

ROFL! Thanks Sahin. I'm still trucking along. There are very few pieces left in the biocube. I have transfered a majority into the 20 long. Things are starting to adjust, but you know the waiting game... I appreciate you checking in on me. I've been ghosted between work and real life, but things are well. I hope all the same for you and the rest of my RC friends! Happy New Year to everyone!

Happy new year to you too jon![emoji481]
Really glad you are ok buddy and that your tank is doing great!
Thanks, G! I miss all you guys. I give it another couple months and I'll start posting some pics. Happy new year buddy! Hope all is well with your tank!

Happy New Year Jon! Real life can be detrimental to reefing so I basically live inside my reef for now :D Looking forward to an update.
