This was at LFS today, they had it labeled as 'Crescent tail' fairy wrasse, but I'm not convinced... It is slightly different from my present Crescent tail wr., which has black on dorsal and tail...and no top red stripe that this has...

Juvie Pintail wrasse.
Not necessarily; we need to see the entire tail. Is in fact a crescent shape or rather a lancet shape?

There is a C. lunatus variant which does get this exact pattern on the body. At this point, that's what I think you're looking at here.

Tanaka's photo; and that stripe can reach all the way to the head:

I concur looks like a lanceolatus as well. I heard they can be very nasty
C. lanceolatus has an attitude, yes; but C. cf. lanceolatus no.

I'll try to get another pic, but the tail is not crescent like my crescent tail wrasse but it's not pointed (yet?) either...I might run up to Greenwich tomorrow to see what their's looks like

albano, I randomly walked into GA on Sunday and saw the fish. Confirmed with Jason that it's cf. lanceolatus. Pretty little fish.

I saw my friend's car outside as I was driving by and pulled in. One thing led to another and here we are talking about cf. lanceolatus.
