Very nice pitures and I hope you to take shots of your jordani, too.

Is there a function for changing colors (of background) with the Trial version ? If it is you can do that, but you need some careful painting. It will change colors immediately by clicking if the background is almost plainly colored.

No unfortunately the trial version is very limited, i'll look into getting the full version.

heuerfan, my male flame did that for about a week, then started coming out more during feeding. Now he is a complete pig!
still a little skittish though. But adding some lineatus sure made him flare up some

get some pics of the male flame if you can. I've seen some male flames that were 5" and were one of the nicest colored fish i have ever seen... Ill try to get a few pics when i get back to Hawaii.

Okay thanks, hope mine will come out after a week. So far he is still hiding. Should i be concerned that he has not eaten for 3 days now

3 days is pushing it.. Get a turkey baster and squirt the food towards him. That should work

I would try to get him to eat something ASAP.

If he doesn't eat soon do a 2-3 minute FW dip to check for flukes and velvet.

Just got home tank lights are out, he is hiding in a different spot. I've been trying to squirt food at him for the past 3 days. But he did not take any, only the first day. He looks healthy and breathing normally.

Turned the lights back on waited a half hour, Lineatus, Laboutei and Female Flame woke up to eat. Squirted food at the male flame but he went to hide in a different spot. Tried a couple of times squirting mysis in his face and no reaction

Doesn't look good guys, will try again tomorrow.

Question for Mr. Tanaka, et al. regarding Lubbocks Fairys.

I can't find any reference that doesnt contradict some other reference. I'm trying to set up a shoal of maybe 1 male and 3 or 4 females. How do I tell females from males?

I think that the correct term in this regard is harem. Shoal and school have very specific(different) meanings that do not normally apply to fairy wrasses.

Rich,

Female of C. lubbocki is entirely reddish with pale abdomen, and a black spot on caudal peduncle. It is quite similar to that of C. flavidorsalis, a close relative. Also very similar to that of C. adornatus.

Males of C. lubbocki are variable and two distinct forms are known; one with two disjunct purplish stripes on side, and another lack these, and the color of males is reddish to bluish.

Update, still not eating but the male flame came out for a rare photo opportunity. He came out scratching his head aqainst the rocks then went back to hide. I noticed a couple of the wrasses scratching against the rocks also. But this normally happens to me when i introduce new fish to the tank.

To late they are both in his tank. Dropped them off to him last night. I was really thinking about keeping the smaller male flame and putting him in the main tank with the bigger male but a promise is a promise.

If hes coming out it is a good sign at least. Male flame are very fragile. Of all the ones i've sold they have all hid and rarely did any of them come out to eat within a week. They do best in established reef tanks IMO. I dotn recommend QTing any fairy wrasses as i have seen them do much better if introduced to the main system right away where they can graze.
for a 4" male he doesn't have to much yellow. Mine is 3-3.5" and his stomach is almost all yellow. might have been a big female that turned male (which happens often)

keep trying, he'll come around

Is a solor wrasse a friendly fish? Any reports of them attacking shrimp?

Okay thanks, my first male flame that i just gave to my friend came out eating and swimming the 2nd day he was about 3.25". My tank is an established reef tank, and he went straight in there no QT so hopefully he will come around in time

His stomach is actually very yellow, he just seemed a little bleached in that picture. Maybe because he just woke up?

I am glad that he came out and looks healthy, just wish i can see him eat, then i don't mind if he hides as long as he eats.

he is probably eating pods all day. I didn't feed my pair of flames or pair of lienatus for like 3 days (forgot.. lol) and they were all fat and the 4th day!

I can ship you some saltwater feeder shrimp (tiny tiny ones) if your male flame doesn't eat those, then you need to worry...
USPS express isn't that much and it will get to you next day prob since u live in NY
