the larger labouti i think is the dominant one because it is chasing all the other three away from it. so you think it takes three months for it to change to a male. im so impatient!!!!
 
Well the first step has begun, establishment of dominance. Remember, I gave you an estimate based on what I have seen in other fairy wrasses. What will be more exciting is that with a harem and your fairly large tank, you will have a reasonable chance at seeing mating activity (near lights off time).
 
Hey guys. My female solar jumped a week or so ago so it's back to the drawing board. I've been thinking about getting a Cook's Island Scotts, However I'm having trouble finding them for sale. Anyone know where I can find one? Also, how hard are female scotts to find? I'd love to get a pair. Anyother suggestions besides scotts?

Liveaquaria has large Cook island Scott's in stock now. Plus how much are you willing to spend? I have 14 fairy wrasses and will be getting a Rhomboid and Pyles soon so they might be an option for you.
 
i personally like the aussie scotts better. The large males are hard to beat. BubbaOPPD what fairies do you have?

14 is quite a few! are they all in the same tank?
 
I have an Exquisite, Whipfin, solorensis, cyanopleura, Fiji Scotts, and a Lubbocks in the 120 which will be upgraded to a 220gal. The 240 has a roseafascia, lineatus pair, Laboutei, Aussie Scotts, Rubripinnis, Exquisite pair, and Punctatus, man I just realized I have 15 not 14. I used to have a rubrimarginatus but he decided to go on a tour of my sump and died in the filter sock. When the 220 comes this weekend I will have room for more.
 
where is your punctatus from?? i got some from australia and they were rather bland... even though they were 4-5". I hear the ones from Fiji are very nice with lots of "dots".. lol do you have any pics?

i have 3 flames, 2 rhomboids, 1 balteatus, 2 lineatus and 3 mccoskers
i dont know what else to add!! im thinking a small laboutei (i think they are the most unique looking fairy.)
 
I don't know where he came from but I have a picture of him on page 20 when I didn't know what he was, Dr. Tanaka identified him. The picture really doesn't show his colors well the flash washed a lot of the colors out.
 
Where are you guys getting your Pylei's from. I know they are not as pricey as rosy fin, balteatus(have both of these) and rhomboids but i see them quite regularly but no pyleis.

Finally got a pic of my Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse flashing. The camera flash toned it down a bit (he's more blotchy pale pink and blue), but you get the idea...

Ok since nobody seems to have a pic of a female solar wrasse will I be able to just get a small solar wrasse male or female and place it with my larger solar wrasse and my current solar might turn into the male and the new might turn into a female? Should I expect fighting while they decide who turns into what?
 
At first glance it looks like a pic of a conde wrasse they had up for awhile that never sold.....

I cant be sure but that was my guess
 
did anyone see that price on that exqusite in the divers den on live aquaria..i would never pay that for one of those i paid $50 and $60 for the 2 i got
