The conde is still there. It sort of looked a bit like a Conde to me as well. The price of the Divers Den Exquisite is high because of its location (Africa) and special coloration. Divers Den occasionally prices special specimens above the normal price for that item in its regular section. Exquisites tend to lose some color unless they have a female, by the way.

i have a male and a female exqusite and my male looks like that one....my pics that i have posted of him the colors are a little washed but when seen in person his colors are as dark as the on on the divers den and it is from the same area and i paid $60 for him...its colors have not faded yet and i hope not but if so oh well exqusites are still my fav. out of all the fairy wrasses....i had to get rid of my lubbock's...since it changed to a male it became very mean to every fish in my tank tried to move it out to my other tank and it became even worse..tried keeping it by itself in a other tank and then tried to put him back and no change..so he is going to be traded in in the next 2 days...don't know what i will get a fish or some corals...but i hate to see the little guy go but my other warsses are worth more to me than him

IIRC, they addressed this in one of their forums. Basically, the Diver's Den stuff is WYSIWYG, so the increase in price reflects a superior speciemen PLUS extra shipping to wherever they are based. This to me implies that the rest of their stuff is shipped from somewhere else.

Divers Den is shipped from Rhinelander Wisconsin. Everything else comes from the West Coast. Divers Den are theoretically quarantined and you also get a picture. The other stuff is whatever the supplier sends. My experience with them, however, has been VERY positive so far.

Right, LA actually buys and houses the fish in the divers den - which drives up the cost considerably. In the regular section, once you order a fish they go and buy it from a wholesaler (a very good one) and then ship it to you.

thats how i thought it was with them but was 100% sure..but i have a friend that only get is stuff from there and has never had anything bad to say...my lfs gets in fish that look as good if not better sometimes than what my bud gets from la..and i can get it at a chepaer price..but thats just how i like to do things. We all got our ways i guess....the one fairy i want really bad is a temmnicki but just not many out there or when they are they get picked up real quick..maybe i will find one soon

casino on page 11 of this thread H. Tanaka posted 3 pics of the female solar warsse..check it out
Thank you. Now when my LFS gets some in I can make sure that they are what they say they are and not get the wrong fish.

i can't believe they want 80$ for a lemonpeel angel! alot of their divers den fish are over priced, and some aren't even rare. but man, do they sell out of those divers den fish fast!

I think it depends where you live. Here in socal, sure that's expensive. But if you live somewhere a lot less accessible, not only will things be more expensive to get to the LFS, but selection will drop dramatically. I remember visiting a friend in Davis CA once many years ago. Corals, at least the few they had, were like 5 or 6 times the price of Los Angeles.

Fairy Wrasse Behavior - Aggression

Fairy Wrasse Behavior - Aggression

Although this thread is supposedly about pictures, I would like to ask people to contribute their Fairy Wrasse Behaviors in regards to aggression. For example, Scott's Fairy Wrasses are known to be somewhat to very aggressive. Which other Wrasses are aggressive in this regard. I think Lubbock's were mentioned as being aggressive. Any others?

My Lubbock was not aggressive at all and I have never heard of them being aggressive.

However my Red-Margin Fairy wrasse was a bully and it was a female.

My labouti sub male as he has matured over the past year is bullying every other fish in the tank; except my gramma. They got in a jaw lock once and ever since he leaves the gramma alone. But he will keep the bigger clarkiis in their anenome. He gets very aggressive at night. Even after dinner.

The lineatus male I had for a short while kept the labouti in his place. He also made a run at my pistol shrimp but the goby dissuaded him by taking a chuck out of his jaw.

On a scale of 1-10, my McCosker's is 0 and Lubbock's is a 1, but those are the only wrasses in the tank.

most aggressive in order from my experience:

velvet, scotts (aus), punctatus, balteatus, laboutei, pink margin, lineatus, flame, rhomboid, bathiphylus.

velvets are just mean (and big) scotts i have to seperate usually from other fairies and themselves. Punctatus just get big and can get mean. balteatus have a temper. Laboutei can get territorial more then others. Lineatus/pink margin seem to have it against each other. Flames dont like same sized flames or other females?. rhomboids are passive, and bathiphylus the most passive. i actually keep them together since they are so passive.

these are the fairies i have experince with.

my last lubbocks was very mean...all others that i have had before were not so i don't think that was the norm..i had a whipfin that wasa big bully also and my friend had one that was the same...i have been told they are aggressive...as for my other fairys and flashers i have never had that problem...i now have mccosker, blue and caprenters flasher wrasse...as for for fairy wrasse i have 2 exqusite( male and female) and a c. joanallenae and all get along just fine..but out of all of these i would say the female exqusite is by far the most aggressive

A little fairy came by and told me I should post these here, so I will..

Here are some pics of my newest tank addation (Pylei Wrasse):

it looks like a pink margin. I dont think the pyleis have the blue tip on the tail...? not sure though. very nice though :)

Its defintely a Pylei, its a variant from Sulawesi per Mr. Tanaka.

Beautiful Pylei Dave, its one of my favorites!
