All,

A few months ago I bought a redmargin wrasse. The fish is doing magnificently in my tank but its colors seem faded. My question is: If I were to find and introduce a smaller female redmargin wrasse would the wrasse I have now regain its colors? (This is, of course, making the assumption that the fish I have now is a male. I am not sure how good of an assumption this is as it is being made soley on the fact that the fish has been without a partner for quite some time.)

here are 2 pics of my new fairy a C. Rubriventralis..this guy is really small maybe 2" he is doing real good eating well i have him in my specimen cup now...i might have to move my caprenter's with them being close in color and he as came up to display at the new guy in the cup alot but the new guy is showing his colors as well so we will have to see how that goes..but really cool guy i been trying to get one of these again for sometime now.

i ma glad to say that my new fairy and the capenters is getting along just fine...in fact the new guy will kinda chase the carpenters away and he is only half his size..so thats a good sign that is his pretty healthy. he is out in the open alot already and loves to show those long fins of his i got some more pics of him and i will post them soon.

I've finally gotten my wrasse collection up. Here's my lineatus SM. I love his tail. It's much redder than the pic shows. I have a small girl for him but she's tough to get a pic of. I also have a labouti pair, rhomboid male and carpenter's.

Nice lookin' lineatus! I guess they're coming in a little more often as of late.

Thanks guys. My LFS got in a transship in late Nov. They weren't sure what would show up. They were just told 3 male lineatus. I made sure I showed up right as they unloaded, saw the big SM and got first pick :D .

Peter thank you for the additional info. how did you determine he was a male (fins?)etc.

The female is entirely rose / pinkish

Brad,

That is a redmargine wrasse. I bought one of these not to long ago from MSM. Unfortunately, the colors in mine are a bit more fade as compared to yours.

Well I added the exquisite from the QT to the main display tank today along with a so called carpenter flasher. But I don't think thats what he is. The exquisite hasn't come out yet, but this guy is out and declaring his top fish status. Here is a picture of him when first added (has a all white belly) then he started ripping back and forth and displaying like crazy. His color then really deepened and his tail turned bright blue and his white belly bar turned all dark blue except for the very front of it. The picture of him displaying shows more of an orangy color but he is really more of a pinky color (like the first photo) with totally bright yellow dorsal and anal fins. What is he???
We are guessing C. filamentosus??
