I know for sure that mine is an aussie now, so would that still be a no on the Cook's mated pair? If it is a no, what about just going with the female cook island w/my aussie male, would that work and would they pair up or not?

Fairy wrasses aren't associated as pairs in nature. They are comprised of a male with a harem of females. A mated Cook's pair either means they were caught in the same location or someone just put a male and female together and sold them as a mated pair. The female should be able to be paired up with either male. Just don't put the two males together.

this is my new fairy that i got..i think it is a c. rubripinnis but not sure..it is very small but can't wait to watch him grow..it like crazy so that is a good start and none of my other pay him any attention

In my 90g right now I have a lubbocks fairy wrasse, and I just introduced a mccoskers flasher wrasse to my tank today. The only large fish in my tank is a striped bristletooth tang. All the others are small- 2 clowns, firefish, neon goby, carberryi anthias, and yellowheaded jawfish. How many wrasses do you have or would you keep in a 90? I was thinking or adding a solar and a canary, would that be pushing it?

Does anyone any experience or information on Rosefacia's or any other Fairy Wrasse's becoming pregnant in ones fishtank? My Female Rosefacia has grown quite a belly and pretty much looks like a big fat pregnant Molly from my freshwater days. I noticed it a few days ago and I had a friend over last night that noticed it too. I will try and capture a photo of her tonight and post it.

In reference to the little rose (red) colored wrasse in the upper photos. I think it is a male Yellow Fin. I have never seen a black spot on a Lubbock. I have a fish that looks exactly like that with the small black spot on it. I think she is a yellow fin or a decorated. The females pretty much stay that color, but the males tend to get pale pink bars and yellow fins. Check it out on Saltcorner.com. Great site for ID.

ginger i checked your pic and it could be a yellowfin..maybe a lubbocks, or adornatus..it is very hard to tell when they are females they all look the same..hopefully it will turn into a male..i had one like that and it was a lubbocks...as for the ones in my pics above it is a juv. red fin

Well I had to get out the cameral and take a few new shot of my wrasses. I moved my Marjorie Pair and Vanuatu Hooded Male to my inwall 75. I filled it with about 80lbs of tongan branch, went all actinic to mimic the deeper water where these guys are found. They really seem to like the changes and are much less timid and spooked.

that is very sweet looking huskerreef..i really like that marjorie but i just could not afford to pay that much at the time..a lfs in detroit got a pair of those they were very nice when the male displays..have you seen yours display much??

Here are pictures of the incredibly large-in-the belly female wrasse Sara B is speaking of. There is also a male in the tank and this fish looks positively gravid. Anyone else experience this?
