mine has been pretty calm..i have always heard form others that they are pretty nasty...mine will go after the yellow fin time to time but nothing too bad

Even if it's not a fairy wrasse, there's a shot of one of my filamentous flasher wrasse i managed to take a few weeks ago.
what i don't like about this wrasse is even if they claim it to be peacefull, this one is a little nasty with my firefishes.

All of the flasher wrasses tend to intimidate firefish. They are somewhat mutually exclusive (not totally).

i got this pic of my laboutei the other day..not the best pic but it did get some sweet colors..this was right at the end of displaying

We added a Blue-Sided (will want a definite ID on this one tonite) this weekend who was getting mauled by the Solar but things have calmed down a bit and the blue-sided has been swimming in the open and eating readily so thats a good sign!

It is a good idea to socially acclimate by floating new arrivals in a breeders cup. One can often avoid these snit fits by doing so.

Just got these guys. Trying to figure out what they are. I have a Balteatus wrasse and these guys look dif(might be Balteatus too but def look a little dif.) I did not get them as a pair, MLF had them in two seperate tanks. Thinking they might be a male and female. The male does not have the white line when he displays.

man, i've been following this thread for a really long time now... i think this is my first post here! great fish everyone, and great pics.

i'm just getting back into the saltwater hobby after a break and the first order of business is to set up a new reef w/ a wrasse dominated tank.
after doing some research, it wouldn't be too hard for me to find the following species locally:
hawaiian flame wrasse
pink margin wrasse
lineatus wrasse
rhomboid wrasse
mystery wrasse
mccosker's wrasse
8 lined flasher wrasse
potter's leopard wrasse

how bad of an idea would it be to get most/all of these fish? i know some of them have very similar colors and i've read that could lead to problems...
also from what i can see, the pyle's, lineatus, rhomboid, & pink margin look VERY similar in morphology... almost like they're the same fish but w/ differing color schemes. unfortunately, these 4 fish, along w/ the mystery wrasse, are my favorites. i'm fairly sure i can get them in staggered sizes. which ones should i introduce first and which ones should ideally be larger or smaller?
thanks in advance

Mystery can be problematical with other wrasses. Lineatus and Rhomboid can be problematical if introduced serially but this can be reduced if you socially acclimate.

by serially, do you mean one after the other?
and how do you mean socially acclimate? by keeping the new fish in a little observation tank inside the main display?

Yeah one after the other. I woud always introduce smallest most passive first. My lineatus male leaves my smaller rhomboids alone but my lineatus female is a witch. I use an acrylic box with slots and suction cups(found it on ebay) to introduce my wrasses. It gives the other fish a few days to get used to the newcomers and greatly reduces the initial aggression. It doesn't always work but it usually does.

MicroBubbles in my 90 i have a yellow coris, xmass, mysterious, exquisite divided male ,Banana,Hawaiian Flame Wrasse male and female pair they all get along fine.knock on wood!
