another question...

another question...

Bronco... as far as this breeder cup goes.... is it the 3 way or 5 way breeder from Lee's that you got form petco?? Second question is, given the size of the cup, do you think there is less stress associated with keeping them in such a small cup as opposed to stress that would be induced if introduced into a tank with agression shown towards them??

Obviously you introduced many successfully this way, so this would seem to suggest that wouldnt it?

Oh and BTW... NO CLUE what the post above me says.. other than c. lacneolatus....guess we need to go to Japan to get them ;

The way you guys talk about those fish you just beg to get ripped off.....sorry, I just had to say it.

People on here talk about Lineatus as rare while each shipment from Oz is getting 100pcs or more.
The price in Asia for Lineatus is half of the price in the states, I dont think the freight price from Oz to Asia is cheaper than from Oz to the states, and if it is it might be slightly cheaper, nothing major.

C.lanceolatus is a confusing species and I guess they will find that there are more than one C.lanceolatus, I have seen specimens that came under that name that didnt look like each other, if you look at that Japanese pic you'll see my meaning, and the fish I saw didnt look eactly the same as the pic either.

this is great! i just found this thread right after i picked up my pair of flame wrasses! (crazy cheap to :)) but i had to bring them home on the plane with me :-D

i can't wait to upgrade so i can get some more interesting fish!

The Scotts was the most expensive Wrasse I bought at $ 90 the Exquisite was $ 45 but that's because I know a couple of guys there at AI, they usually go for $60. The Pink Margin was $26 but it's not a super male they go for $90.

Thanx Rothie and CrazyLionfish.

Marcel & Slobound

I get the majority of my fish via Marineaquatics.net or Justrarefish.com

That pyle's I have pictured comes from them. Marcel, they also have a couple of Rosy fins available right now.

Deltec,

The Cirrhilabrus lanceolatus is a very rare fairy wrasse. While I have seen one live in an aquarium. I've never seen one for sale....at least not in my area or through the normal channels I use.

The Lanceolatus is know for it's tail. It has a very long spear or sword like filament growth on it's tail. If I remember correctly (I'm vacationing right now and away from my references) it comes from the east....Asia or Japan.

My guess is that despite the fact the LFS is getting 4, he's probably gonna charge an arm and a leg for them. If he's hyping up the fact they are rare, then I'd guess he's gonna ask top dollar. Even if he got them for low price.
I'd make sure they are Lanceolatus because wrasses can easily be confused sometimes.
If in fact they are lanceolatus, please do me a favor and come back and let me know the price, health, and shipping policies that stores uses. If they check out, I might be interested.

However, if this shop is getting access to them, then I have to assume some fish distributor out there has more. Which means that a place like Marineaquatics.net might also get access to them.
Marineaquatics.net deals in nothing but rare and hard to find fish. Not yellow tangs or royal grammas which every mom and pop shop sells for "margin" reasons.
Currently Marineaquatics is working on getting a rare Blood stain fairy from Africa for me. Can't wait for that.

I bought one for $110.00. Its a lancey alright :)

Hey bronco, sorry for the bad pic but he likes to move and its hard to get a good pic of him. My LFS had one left and it was tiny, possibly a girl. I was going to pic her up but I didn't have the cash. He claims he is getting 4 more next week. Price might go up he said. Interesting observation is when he swims the lance tail is evident but when he is still or not moving fast the tail is like other wrasses. He is about 4 inches. Loves to eat spectrum and mysis.

Bronco another question, how are the health of the fish from marineaquatics.net? I was going to pick up a lineatus but heard some horror stories of some of the customers bad experience with that vendor. I have to replace my lineatus and pylei who perished when my heater broke and the water was at 87 degrees :( You might remember me from my old name as remorarules.

i have an adult male lineatus wrasse that was introduced into my tank and was beaten pretty badly by a very large mystery wrasse. well i took the mystery out temporarily and the lineatus only comes out for eating and is still shy over 2 weeks later. and when he is out he is always like freaking out and running into the glass and things. what should i do? and also i have a rosy fin male that has no color what so ever. he is just dull orange and a little red. thats it. what can i do to make his colors come back?

thanks,
seth
