Sorry Triggerman it was not meant to be offensive, just from the picture it looked like the sand had just been stirred up. anyways, from this picture I can see that is not the case. And how come 5 years and so few fish? lol. A few fairy wrasse would look awesome in there!

Chrisbenavides - Fairy wrasse are compatible with all but really aggresive fish and fish that can eat them. Fairy wrasse would be fine with what you have now. And for your size tank I'd reccomend 1 small fairy wrasse (one that doesn't attain more then 5") or maybe a pair (same species male/female)

Thanks for posting that pic largeangels. I just got back from getting married in Las Vegas and found my tank at 64 degrees!

luckily the flame wrasse is in my quarantine and seems to be doing just fine at 78 degrees.

I have a Six-Line Wrasse, Tri-Colored Wrasse, and a Yellowflanked Fairy Wrasse in a 75 gallon together (with a Clarkii Clown) and they all get along...

The wedding was just fine. I wish I could say the same about my corals. They aren't looking good at all.

On the flip side I haven't seen a single flatworm which is weird.

Las Vegas is the only thing I have found to be more expensive than this hobbby and I didn't even gamble.

Sorry CL
I had a brain spaz for a couple of seconds.
I had fish only with cc that worked out splendidly. No horrible algae, cyano to deal with at all.
5 yrs ago I debated on whether or not to go with a dsb.I agonized over it.I finally did it.The tank readings stayed good long term but the nuisance algae sucked big time.Dsb's were supposed to be low maintenence ,but, they are quite a complicated eco system that is hard to maintain long term, for me anyways.5 yrs seems to be about the time frame for these things blowing up,so to speak.
Two reasons for the light fish load.:fish1: fish2:I went to Hawaii april 04 for my 40'th bday.We were gone 15 days and picked someone very irresponsible to watch over the tanks.I lost a 7inch Emp angel, that was starting to change,a cowfish, two cardinals all in one swoop. The other reason is if it does implode I don't really want alot of casualties.:fish1:
The whole hawaii incident still haunts me to this day.

To all of you fairy wrasse experts.

What are you guys feeding? I want to give my flame wrasse as good of a diet as I can.

IMO you feed as varied a diet as the fish will accept. This will help to ensure that the fish is getting its dietary needs fulfilled. Remember that carnivores eat animals that are herbivores or omnivores and herbivores eat crustaceans in the course of eating algae. I also believe that small frequent meals are better 'n large less frequent feedings, esp. for high energy fish.

Can anyone ID this fairy wrasse for me? The best I could do is Cirrhilabrus Bathiphilius based on the wetwebmedia photos. This came in on an Australian shipment.

Fairy wrasses should not be housed with dottybacks. Except for the orchid dottyback....that one is okay. Also avoid carpet anenomes in your tank. They are notorious wrasse catchers at night.

The picture of the last fish posted seems to be that of a female bathyphilus. However, there are many other types of fairy wrasses where the females or the juveniles have those similar markings.

A kato's fairy can have these colors and markings. A young juvenile conde can have these markings. Size will certainly help in determining the fish pictured. If it's fairly large or adult sized.....it's likely a bathyphilus. if it's small could be one of many other types.

By the way. Mysis & Plankton are a must in a fairy wrasses diet. They will take just about anything you feed them. But for long term health and coloration they must have these two foods as an everyday staple.

Cyclopeeze is also very good for them.

What plankton would you recommend? As of now I feed pellets and hikari frozen mysis shrimp. Would you recommend hikari frozen plankton? Hikari seems to have small frozen food that is my wrasse is able to swallow whole, so thats why I prefer that brand. Other mysis shrimp I've seen is huge and the wrasse would take one, run away, and digest/swallow for like 2 minutes.

that ocean plankton looks like it would taste good.. for a fish that is.. lol. I think I'm going to pick some up today and see how my wrasse likes it.
